Few positions are more important to the modern game than a right-back.

Whether you want an auxilliary attacker, an out-and-out defender or somebody to test out the new inverted full-back role, Football Manager 2024 has plenty of options for you to sign regardless of how much money you're working with.

Here are 90min's recommendations for right-backs to sign with any budget.

Cheap options

Jesus Navas
Sevilla

One of the few options at this price point that could actually do a job for a top team, Navas is a winger by trade but had adapted to life in defence at the ripe old age of 37. He's yours for £3.8m.

Alessandro Florenzi
AC Milan

Florenzi can do a little bit of everything and is even suited for a job as an emergency midfielder. £3.2m is a pretty nice deal.

Hans Hateboer
Atalanta

Hateboer's expiring contract makes him a potential bargain. He's a real athlete who does his best work in defence, and because he's still only 29, he'll cost you £5m.

Oscar De Marcos
A. Bilbao

Centre-back and defensive midfield are the only two positions you can't play De Marcos. He's a top squad option for £2.9m.

Christopher Trimmel
Union Berlin

Trimmel might be 36 but his physical stats are still great and he should be able to give you a few years of reliable help for £525,000.

90min recommends

Matteo Darmian
Inter

You can always rely on Inter in search of a bargain. In defence, Darmian is yours for just £3.9m, and he's perfect for any mid-table club wanting a starter or even a top side looking for cover across the entire back line.

Mergim Vojvoda
Torino

Vojvoda is on an expiring contract and is therefore available for as little as £4.4m. He's a great option if you can't land your preferred targets.

Zeki Celik
Roma

Celik is on the transfer list for a cool £2.6m, which is a massive bargain and an offer you smaller teams shouldn't pass up on.

Mitchell Weiser
Werder Bremen

16 pace, 14 dribbling and 13 crossing will make Weiser a nice attacking full-back. His price tag of £4.3m is a little steep but it's not exactly a bad deal.

Jeremy Toljan
Sassuolo

28-year-old Toljan does a lot of different things, with 13s all over his stats page. He's available for £3.8m.

Reasonable options

Arnau Martinez
Girona

One of the emerging stars of Spanish football, Martinez's release clause is just £8.5m, which is a steal considering he can shine for your team for the next decade.

Adam Marusic
Lazio

Statistically the best player in this price bracket, Marusic has some excellent mental stats which should help him fit into any top side. He's available for £17m, which is also the top price in this range.

Sergi Roberto
Barcelona

Financial woes will see Barcelona cash in on Roberto for just £11m. He's another who could immediately slot into a top team.

Lukas Klostermann
RB Leipzig

A defence-first player who is also a natural at centre-back, Klostermann is a great squad option at just £12m.

Youssouf Sabaly
Real Hispalis

£12.5m will get you Sabaly, whose 15 tackling makes him one of the best pure defenders in his position.

90min recommends

Nordi Mukiele
Paris SG

Elite at both centre-back and right-back, Mukiele is only 25 years old and so can play a key role for you for at least five or six years. For only £8m, you really can't go wrong at all.

Manuel Lazzari
Lazio

The lightning-fast Lazzari is a really nice option at £11m. Some big clubs are sniffing around him at the start of the game because of his bargain asking price, so you might have to move quick.

Marius Wolf
Borussia Dortmund

With 17 work rate and 16s all over his mental page, Wolf looks like a manager's dream and the sort of player you can't really go wrong with at £10m.

Ferdi Kadioglu
Fenerbahce

Kadioglu is a bit of a work-in-progress but, if you can afford to give him a year or two, you'll soon have an elite right-back. £17m is steep for his current ability but he'll be worth a lot more than that soon.

Elseid Hysaj
Lazio

Still only 29, Hysaj is a natural on both sides of defence and offers amazing value for his £9.5m price tag.

Expensive options

Noussair Mazraoui
Bayern Munich

With 14s and 15s all over his stats page, Mazraoui looks like a really smart signing. £44m is big money but that's what you'll have to pay for a young, long-term option.

Takehiro Tomiyasu
Arsenal

Arsenal want £57m for Tomiyasu, which is a huge sum of money, but Tomiyasu is one of the best right-backs on the game. Comparatively, it's actually a really good price if you want an elite signing.

Joe Gomez
Liverpool

Gomez is actually a top talent who is far too good to sit on Liverpool's bench. His £40m asking price, while not entirely accurate in the real world, is more than fair in FM.

Emerson Royal
Tottenham Hotspur

Emerson may like attacking but his stats suggest he'd be better off as an elite defender. He'll cost you £46m.

Mohamed Simakan
RB Leipzig

23-year-old Simakan has the potential to blossom into a true superstar either at right-back or in the centre. £46m is actually a really solid price for that sort of quality.

90min recommends

Kyle Walker-Peters
Southampton

Is he as good as the top-tier options? Maybe not, but the difference is marginal and so you're better off saving your money in this position. For £19.5m, get yourself a really solid player who can help you out on both sides, but you'll have to act quick because big teams will have the same idea soon enough.

Juan Foyth
Villarreal

Foyth's £36m release clause is worth considering as he's among the best right-backs (and centre-backs) available. His mental stats are superb, as is his 16 tackling.

Dani Carvajal
R. Madrid

You'll need a big wage budget to convince Carvajal to leave Madrid but, with an asking price of just £15m, that shouldn't be a problem. After all, he's one of the best defenders in the world.

Benjamin Henrichs
RB Leipzig

Elite on both sides of the pitch, Henrichs is a great buy at £22m. He's another who does his best work in defence, with 15 tackling and 14 passing making him a great fit for any team.

Jonathan Clauss
OM

An elite attacking option, Clauss' asking price of £23m is brilliant value when you compare it to some of the others around.
