The best MLS goals of week - ranked
Despite the FIFA international window, Major League Soccer still saw action. The Seattle Sounders drew against FC Cincinnati, as LA Galaxy took on the Cali Classico in full force to give us several great goals to choose from for this week's list.
Here's everything you missed...
5. Brenner (vs. Seattle Sounders)
To kick off, we have Brenner against the Seattle Sounders.
FC Cincinnati opened up the scoring in the 24th minute, managing a right-footed shot from the left side of the box into the bottom corner of the goal.
Despite the 1-1 draw, Cincinnati is still expected to qualify for the Major League Soccer postseason as they sit in fifth on the Eastern Conference table with 46 points in 32 games.
4. Chicharito (vs. San Jose Earthquakes)
His celebration says it all.
Chicharito opened up the scoring for the LA Galaxy in the daunting Cali Classico on Saturday. Beyond the importance of the rivalry, the Galaxy massively needed a victory to remain in playoff contention. After taking home three points, the team sits in fifth on the Western Conference table. But with two games left, and an extremely close race in the West, anything can happen.
3. Chicharito (vs. San Jose Earthquakes)
Chicharito again! The Mexican figure scored twice for the Galaxy against the San Jose Earthquakes, this time connecting with Efrain Alvarez to find the back of the net.
His right-footed shot went just under Earthquakes goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski to double the score.
2. Fredy Montero (vs. FC Cincinnati)
We had to include the Seattle Sounders equalizer. Fredy Montero's long distance strike to the upper right corner was one to watch.
It was the player's fourth goal of the season, rounding out the 2022 campaign in a positive manner. But despite best efforts to tie the match, it is unlikely the Sounders will qualify to the postseason. The team sits in ninth place on the Western Conference table with 40 points in 32 games.
At least they have this goal and the Concacaf Champions League trophy.
1. Gaston Brugman (vs. San Jose Earthquakes)
Last but certainly not least: Gaston Brugman vs. the San Jose Earthquakes.
The player stunned with the second goal of the match, completing a right-footed rocket into the upper left corner of the goal. A phenomenal effort by the midfielder, who now has three goals in the last two matches.
