Major League Soccer’s Week 8 of the 2022 campaign saw several stunning goals with Jesus Jimenez and Taxi Fountas among those to make the list.

D.C. United’s newest Designated Player made himself known on Saturday, scoring twice to lead the Eastern Conference team to a 3-2 victory over the New England Revolution, their first triumph of the post-Hernan Losada era.

Leonardo Campana also thrived for Inter Miami once again, slowly emerging in the race for the 2022 Golden Boot.

Let’s look at Week 8’s best goals…

5. Jesus Jimenez (vs. NYCFC)

Jimenez is on fire for Toronto FC.

Jimenez kicked off Sunday’s match against NYCFC with two first half goals, before succumbing to the 5-4 scoreline. But it was his second goal that makes this list, after a right footed shot found the top left corner.

Despite the defeat, it was a successful afternoon for the forward. With six goals so far this season, he's tied for first in the Golden Boot race alongside Sebastian Driussi.

4. Christian Espinoza (vs. Seattle Sounders)

Christian Espinoza recorded a hat-trick against the Seattle Sounders to lead the San Jose Earthquakes to a 4-3 victory.

He kicked off in extra-time of the first half before finishing off his well rounded performance with a 94th-minute penalty. While all three goals made an impact, his second wowed. He found Jamiro Monteiro on the right, positioning himself perfectly to receive the pass and manage the long range shot into the center of the goal.

That performance allowed Espinoza to climb the Golden Boot race, tied at four with several other MLS hopefuls.

3. Robin Lod (vs. Chicago Fire)

Robin Lod does it again.

The player scored his third of the season against the Chicago Fire on Saturday to top off the 3-0 victory at Allianz Field. He managed a right footed shot from the center of the box to the bottom right corner to secure the Loons the three points.

With the triumph, Minnesota United maintains their fifth place position on the Western Conference table.

2. Leonardo Campana (vs. Atlanta United)

The Wolves loanee inspired Inter Miami to yet another win.

Leonardo Campana equalized the game against Atlanta United, connecting with defender DeAndre Yedlin to send a left footed shot to the opposite corner. Despite the difficult angle, Campana delivered.

He has now been directly involved in six of Inter Miami’s nine Major League Soccer goals, scoring five of them himself. The victory also boosted the South Florida side to ninth on the Eastern Conference table after kicking off the season in last place.

1. Taxi Fountas (vs. New England)

Taxi is here.

The team’s new Designated Player proved his worth, inspiring the team to their first win since the departure of head coach Losada. The player managed two goals and one assist in the victory against the Revolution, stunning with second effort of the night.

There is no telling what he will do for D.C. United as they stage their competitive comeback.
