The action is heating up three weeks into the 2022 Major League Soccer season.

This week’s picks for top goals did not disappoint, as Darwin Quintero managed a long-range blast to defeat the Vancouver Whitecaps, while Alan Velasco marked his FC Dallas debut with a stunning strike.

Here’s all you need to know about this week’s edition…

5. Chicharito (vs Seattle Sounders)

The Mexican never disappoints!

Chicharito is back on best goals of the week after a stunning display against the Seattle Sounders. While his goal was not enough to win LA Galaxy the game, Chicharito proved he continues the trajectory to his best form.

The build up to the goal may look simple, but his finish over goalkeeper Stefan Frei stunned.

4. Santiago Rodriguez (vs CF Montreal)

Rodriguez celebrated his first goal of the 2022 MLS campaign in a 4-1 victory over CF Montreal.

The player found a pocket of space just outside the penalty box to fire the strike into the upper left corner. The ball went over goalkeeper Sebastian Breza, leaving him stunning as Rodriguez hit the back of the net.

It's very important that we have many players that can score goals,” praised Ronny Deila. “That’s coming from the midfield and also set plays with central defenders and up front today."

3. Lucas Zelarayan (vs Toronto FC)

Lucas Zelerayan proved once again that he is a force to be reckoned with. The number 10 found the equalizer in the 56th minute, striking the ball just outside the penalty box strike. The ball barely skimmed along the grass, beating goalkeeper Alex Bono to the lower right corner.

“He's one of the best players in the league; he's a special player,” Crew head coach Caleb Porter said postgame.

“The technique on that first goal, that is high level. I mean, the technique for him to pop that ball basically at the pace and precision that he struck that ball with, that's world-class.”

2. Alan Velasco (vs Nashville SC)

FC Dallas’ newest addition wasted no time on the pitch. Velasco marked his debut with a stunning goal, proving his worth and earning his side three points against Nashville SC.

The striker gathered the ball inside his own half before beating five defenders and goalkeeper Joe Willis to the net to double the score in the 87th minute.

“What he showed on the field is what we were looking for," head coach Nico Estevez said.

"For that reason, it's why we made the investment on him. We were fighting to get him because he is a really good player."

1. Darwin Quintero (vs Vancouver Whitecaps)

A phenomenal performance by Quintero, who scored two goals against the Whitecaps. While his first equalized the score, it was his second that absolutely stunned supporters.

His long-range blast in the 50th minute absolutely deserves to be number one on this edition of goals of the week.

“It's inexplicable. What one thinks or does on the field happens in thousandths of a second. When I saw the ball there, I said to myself: ‘Let's hit it, see if it turns into something memorable.’ Thank God the ball found the back of the net,” he said after the match.
