The best goals of MLS week 22 - ranked
Week 22 of the 2022 Major League Soccer season is in the books, and players did not disappoint.
New faces made the list, with Federico Bernardeschi recording one goal and one assist in a dream debut with Toronto FC, while Michael Bradley worked in conjuction with the Italian to earn the 4-0 victory over Charlotte FC. But our regulars didn't fall far behind, as Sebastian Driussi proved once again why he remains at the top of the Golden Boot race.
Here's this edition of goals of the week...
5. Brandon Vazquez (vs. Nashville SC)
To kick off, we have Brandon Vazquez against Nashville SC.
The forward is on the rise, heading in the equalizer to earn his side the 1-1 draw against Nashville SC and record his 11th overall goal this season. He's become a crucial part of the Eastern Conference team as they balance in seventh on the table with 28 points in 22 games.
With Vazquez on the front foot, FC Cincinnati might just find themselves in the MLS Playoffs.
4. Michael Bradley (vs. Charlotte FC)
Michael Bradley contributed two goals in Toronto FC's 4-0 triumph over Charlotte FC, but it's his first goal that lands him on this edition of Goals of the Week. Working off of a corner by new teammate Federico Bernardeschi, Bradley managed the stunning header from the right side the box to the top left corner of the goal.
In just 10 minutes, Toronto FC led by two goals. It was a much needed win as the Canadian side attempts to climb the Eastern Conference table in time to make the MLS playoffs. They currently sit in 13th place, with 22 points in 22 games.
3. Federico Bernardeschi (vs. Charlotte FC)
It could not have gone better. The Italian marked his Major League Soccer debut with a goal and assist against Charlotte FC, propelling his team to victory.
Bernardeschi fit right into Major League Soccer, taking no time to adjust before sending the left-footed shot into the bottom right corner of the goal in the 31st minute of the match.
2. Chicho Arango (vs. Sporting Kansas City)
Another game, another goal by Chicho Arango.
The player scored his ninth goal of the season against Sporting Kansas City, leading the team to a 2-0 victory. With his help, LAFC are now clear at the top of the Western Conference table with a shocking 45 points in 21 games and a record of 14W-4L-3D.
The team is well underway to lift this season's Supporters' Shield.
1. Sebastian Driussi (vs. New York Red Bulls)
And at number one, we have Sebastian Driussi against the New York Red Bulls.
He scored twice to manage the 3-4 defeat to the Red Bulls, but his second brace earns our first place. The goal may not have won Austin FC the game, but his right-footed strike from just outside the box marks his 13th of the season to tie Valentin Castellanos in the 2022 Golden Boot race.
Now, with 12 games left to be played and the NYCFC forward moving to Girona, Driussi is well on his way to lifting the trophy.
