Week 20 of the 2022 Major League Soccer campaign did not disappoint.

Brandon Vazquez continues to fight his way into the MLS Golden Boot race, scoring his 10th goal of the season to tie Taxi Fountas in third place. Cucho Hernandez managed yet another stunner in just his second game for the Columbus Crew, as Austin FC winger Diego Fagundez shocked with a great set piece goal.

But nothing like a classic strike from none other than Gonzalo Higuain to top this week’s edition.

Here's this edition of goals of the week...

5. Brandon Vazquez (vs. Vancouver Whitecaps)

Brandon Vazquez is slowly becoming a force to be reckoned with. The FC Cincinnati player scored his 10th goal of the season against the Vancouver Whitecaps, inspiring his side to the 2-2 draw.

Despite earlier rumors of a potential transfer, Vazquez is back in the game for Cincinnati as he quietly climbs the MLS Golden Boot race. He's currently tied for third place with D.C. United striker Taxi Fountas, and just two away from overcoming leader Taty Castellanos.

4. Cucho Hernandez (vs. D.C. United)

Cucho Hernandez is unstoppable. Columbus Crew's newest figure has recorded three goals in just two games, proving his worth for the Eastern Conference side.

Though the match ended in a 2-2 draw, Hernandez still managed to stand out.

“The impact of Cucho and Lucas for two goals, that’s a real positive,” said head coach Caleb Porter. “Obviously we’re trying to build chemistry and trying to build fitness with Cucho. And I thought those two guys were excellent coming in the second half. Those two guys deserve a lot of credit for scoring those goals.”

3. Dejan Joveljic (vs. San Jose Earthquakes)

Joveljic recorded two goals in the game against the San Jose Earthquakes, but it was his second that earns him a place on this week's list. The 88th minute stunner brought back excitement for LA Galaxy, as his left-footed shot from the center of the box found the top left corner of the net.

Earthquakes goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski attempted to make the save, but there was no stopping the shot.

2. Diego Fagundez (vs. Houston Dynamo)

Diego Fagundez for Austin FC, once again.

A foul on Sebastian Driussi by Teenage Hadebe earned the hosts a free kick in the attacking half, setting up Fagundez for success. The player stepped up to the spot, and fired the right-footed shot into the top right corner.

The goal marked Fagundez’s fourth in the 2022 Major League Soccer campaign, as he slowly overcomes his 2021 numbers.

1. Gonzalo Higuain (vs. Philadelphia Union)

No one could have predicted this one. Gonzalo Higuain tops this week’s edition with his stunning left-footed strike from just outside the box. After connecting with teammate Jean Mota, Higuain turned to his classic ways to bury the shot into the top left corner of the goal.

There’s a reason Inter Miami head coach Phil Neville just cannot seem to let go of the Argentinian.

Though his efforts were not enough to equalize the match against the Philadelphia Union, it did add a bit of excitement for the home fans at DRV PNK Stadium.
