Bundesliga title winners Bayern Munich will play La Liga giants Barcelona on Friday night in what is set to be an intriguing Champions League quarter-final clash.

Bayern secured their trip to Lisbon with a 7-1 aggregate victory over Chelsea. Barcelona, on the other hand, beat Napoli 4-2 over two legs in their round of 16 tie.

Previous meetings between the two sides give fans every reason to be excited ahead of the fixture, which will be played at Benfica's Estadio da Luz.

Here is the Bayern lineup that should start against Barça.

1. Goalkeeper and Defenders

Manuel Neuer (GK) - The Bayern captain is such an important figure as a leader and between the sticks as a goalkeeper. Making 48 appearances this season, there is no doubting Neuer is Bayern's first choice, even at 34.

Joshua Kimmich (RB) - Normally the German would play in Bayern's midfield, but with first choice right back Benjamin Pavard out injured, Kimmich's versatility is likely to be called upon as he is set to start in place of the Frenchman just like he did against Chelsea.

Jerome Boateng (CB) - The 31-year-old is expected to start but might experience some deja vu when he sees Barça's Lionel Messi running towards him. Boateng ended up on his back in 2015 when Messi skilfully turned the defender on the way to chipping Neuer.

David Alaba (CB) - The Austrian is known for his performances at left back down the years, but the rise of Alphonso Davies coupled with Niklas Sule's injury issues has seen Alaba occupy a centre back position in recent times.

Alphonso Davies (LB) - It has been a remarkable season for the young Canadian, who has made the left back position at Bayern his own. Davies missed training on Wednesday as a precaution due to adductor problems, but he is expected to feature on Friday night.

2. Midfielders

Thiago (CM) - The Spaniard recently turned down a long-term contract offer from Bayern, but ought to remain part of the lineup until he is sold. Thiago started against Chelsea and is expected to do so against his former side.

Leon Goretzka (CM) - After another strong season at Bayern since joining on a free transfer from Schalke in 2018, Goretzka has featured regularly in central midfield, paired alongside either Thiago or Kimmich.

Thomas Muller (CAM) - Even at the age of 30, the Bayern Munich legend is still scoring goals and making regular appearances for the Bavarians. Muller plays just behind Robert Lewandowski in a 4-2-3-1, almost like a second striker at times.

3. Forwards

Serge Gnabry (RW) - The German has loved playing in the UEFA Champions League this season, notably netting four against Tottenham in the group phase and two at Stamford Bridge, part of Bayern's 7-1 aggregate thumping of Chelsea.

Robert Lewandowski (ST) - Barcelona struggled to deal with the Polish striker when the sides met in the 2015 semi finals, with Lewandowski showing great footwork to create an angle to score from outside the box. The Bundesliga top goalscorer will fancy his chances against Barcelona's defence on Friday night.

Kingsley Coman (LW) - The young French winger has a lot to prove, but has previously shown his quality at the top level. Coman is usually moved in and out of the team at the expense of loanee Ivan Perisic, with the 31-year-old having played against Chelsea on Saturday.
