Indian Super League (ISL) side, Bengaluru FC's newest signing, Hira Mondal has opened up on his move to the Blues from East Bengal, revealing that the "atmosphere" at the club is perfect for him to achieve his goals.

Mondal has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the country following a string of stellar performances for Mohammedan SC, which saw him being named in the 2020/21 I-League Team of the Season.

Mondal signed a one-year deal with SC East Bengal in 2021 and was a standout performer in what was a rather difficult season for the Red And Gold brigade, one in which they finished bottom - with it coming as a surprise to many that they let him go considering that he was consistent on the field.

"Bengaluru FC are a big club and the most successful club in India over the last ten years. A lot of players from this club play for the Indian national team. So, I thought that if I want to progress and achieve my goals, the atmosphere at Bengaluru FC is perfect for that," he said in an interview.

"It was a difficult decision for me as SC East Bengal are a big club too. I was a local player as well so it was a tough decision but I decided to move out of the city to make progress in my career," the full-back added.

The 25-year-old will no add strength to the Blues considering that they have already signed the likes of Prabir Das, Javi Hernandez, Faisal Ali and Amrit Gope so far in the summer.
