Despite having won four of their last five Premier League fixtures, Mikel Arteta's Arsenal are still nowhere near where they want to be in terms of league position.

The Gunners currently sit in 11th place, seven points off the top four, showing that despite the recent upturn in their league form, there is still plenty of work to be done.

Having made a number of changes for the FA Cup tie against Southampton on Saturday, it was clear Tuesday's match was always the priority.

With Southampton likely to name most of the same players who took the field as recently as Saturday, this feels like an opportunity for Arsenal to take all three points and return to winning ways. Here, 90min looks at who Arteta should start down on the south coast.

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Bernd Leno (GK) - The German is by far Arsenal's best goalkeeper. Some of his saves have proven pivotal in recent weeks and he is definitely one of the team's match winners.

Hector Bellerin (RB) - The 25-year-old was substituted with approximately 20 minutes remaining during Saturday's clash, perhaps with a view to him being available for this one. He was rested against Newcastle last Monday and so he should be fresher than Cedric, who played 90 minutes in both of those fixtures.

Rob Holding (CB) - Has been in fine form of late and was recently described by the club's hierarchy as one of Arsenal's emerging leaders.

David Luiz (CB) - Should come back into the side after Gabriel's return didn't quite go to plan.

Kieran Tierney (LB) - The more you watch Arsenal without him nowadays, the more you realise how important he is. Having had some injury issues of late, resting him at the weekend was a wise move, but he must return for this one.

2. Midfield

Granit Xhaka (CM) - Wasn't great at the weekend but still looked far better than midfield partner Mohamed Elneny. Remains one half of Arsenal's most balanced midfield partnership and provides a good screen to the back four with his positional discipline.

Thomas Partey (CM) - A transformative midfielder who simply should play every time he is available. Arteta took the decision to leave him on the bench at the weekend - just one of the calls that made it abundantly clear the Arsenal boss' priority was always this one.

Emile Smith-Rowe (AM) - Also rested on Saturday, the 'Croydon De Bruyne' has been key to Arsenal's resurgence of late.

3. Forwards

Bukayo Saka (RW) - Saka ended up playing the last 20 minutes or so at left-back on Saturday. He's been hugely effective in the front three of late and his understanding with Smith Rowe means the pair of them need to get on the ball and make things happen in the final third.

Gabriel Martinelli (LW) - Should start if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is still unavailable. Nicolas Pepe and Willian just haven't been up to standard.

Alexandre Lacazette (ST) - Unable to impact the game at the weekend when he was introduced as a substitute, but his recent form has been impressive and his ability to link up with the forward players around him makes him Arsenal's standout centre-forward at the moment.
