Sunderland team news

Sunderland are expected to bring Wales international Esther Morgan straight into the squad following the completion of her loan move from Tottenham on Friday.

But boss Mel Reay will be without fellow defender Louise Griffiths through injury.

Man Utd team news

Marc Skinner has ruled out rotation for the sake of it, insisting every player always has to earn their place in the team. Still. don't expect that he won't change things up from the usual XI, with the likes of Vilde Boe Risa, Maria Thorisdottir, Jade Moore and Adriana Leon all potential starters.

There could also be a debut for January loan signing Estelle Cascarino, who is seen by the club as a midfielder rather than defender. But fans will have to wait to see Lisa Naalsund, who needs five or six weeks to get back up to speed after not playing since the end of the 2022 Norwegian season. Fellow new arrival Jayde Riviere suffered a long-term injury in the autumn and won't be ready until mid-March.

Sunderland vs Man Utd score prediction

Manchester United are used to facing lower league opposition in the FA Cup, having been paired with third tier Bridgwater United at this stage last season.

A strong Red Devils XI only scored twice that day and didn't properly seal the result until the closing stages. But this season has seen significant improvements from Skinner's side, who have become much more clinical and have a reputation for starting games fast.

United have struggled in the north east already in recent months, being held by Durham - who have a remarkable home record against top flight teams - in the Conti Cup. But they made much lighter work of Sheffield United in December and will be expecting to repeat that kind of performance.

Even with changes to the team expected, players like Boe Risa and Leon are hungry for opportunities and have shown they can make the necessary impact.

Prediction: Sunderland 0-4 Man Utd
