Sevilla 2-1 Manchester United: Player Ratings as Resilient Spaniards Stun Red Devils
Manchester United were sent packing from the Europa League at the semi-final stage, as Julen Lopetegui's Sevilla withstood a barrage of attacks to book their place in Friday's final.
Things got off to the best possible start for United when Diego Carlos wiped out Marcus Rashford in the area, allowing Bruno Fernandes to coolly open the scoring from the penalty spot. But that lead wasn't to last; around 15 minutes later, Sergio Reguilon burst past Aaron Wan-Bissaka and picked out former Liverpool winger Suso, who levelled things up for the underdogs.
United flew out of the traps in the second half but were denied by a string of stellar stops by Yassine Bounou. The Canadian-born keeper's resistance paid off when Jesus Navas teed up substitute Luuk de Jong to give the Spanish side an unlikely lead.
The kitchen sink came out from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team as they looked to salvage the semi-final, but Sevilla threw themselves in the way of everything they had. The Europa League stalwarts march on, while United finish 2019/20 without a trophy.
Enough of that anyway - let's get into some player ratings!
SEVILLA
1. Goalkeeper & Defenders
Yassine Bounou (GK) - 8/10 - Not as busy as expected in the first half but turned in a legendary shift after the half-time whistle. Three terrific stops denied Greenwood and Martial and left United wondering what on earth they had to do to score from open play.
Jesus Navas (RB) - 7/10 - Has probably had better games but his experience was vital and his cross for the winner was out of this world.
Jules Koundé - 7/10 - The younger of the two centre backs but looked the experienced head with his composure and reading of the game.
Diego Carlos (CB) - 5/10 - The Brazilian made a couple of really questionable, rash challenges - the first of which on Rashford for the penalty. Was a vocal presence at the back but will certainly have better games.
Sergio Reguilon (LB) - 8/10 - His clever inverted movement was a real source of confusion for United at times and created the equaliser. Strong defensively too, rarely looked troubled despite the potent threats in front of him.
2. Midfielders
Ever Banega (CM) - 8/10 - Composure and press-resistance was called upon more and more frequently as United upped the ante in the second half but he stood strong. Integral to his side's possession-based game.
Fernando (CM) - 7/10 - The former Manchester City midfielder ran a steady ship and made life miserable for United in the engine room. Sh**house extraordinaire.
Joan Jordan - 7/10 - A functional shift that won't grab many headlines but played its role in another memorable Europa League night for Lopetegui's team.
3. Forwards
Suso (RW) - 7/10 - The former Liverpool winger was a real livewire and did the damage when it counted. His Anfield connections were undoubtedly on his mind as he passionately celebrated the equalising goal.
Youssef En-Nesyri (CF) - 5/10 - Tried hard enough but couldn't get himself into the game - a frustrating hour or so before he was withdrawn.
Lucas Ocampos (LW) - 5/10 - Subbed at the same time as En-Nesyri but looked to be carrying a knock. Full of life but struggled majorly against Wan-Bissaka who was in no mood for his trickery.

5. Goalkeeper & Defenders
David de Gea (GK) - 6/10 - Struggling Spaniard was backed to start ahead of usual Europa League keeper Sergio Romero. Quiet evening but no errors to note, which was nice.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB) - 6/10 - Generally steady but could have done better to close down Navas for the winner. Struggled to attack like he can, but did the job he was there to do for the most part.
Victor Lindelof (CB) - 5/10 - A largely unremarkable, uneventful game. But what he was doing for Sevilla's second we will never know.
Harry Maguire (CB) - 6/10 - Will have been frustrated with the naivety shown by his defensive team-mates at times, but was by no means at his best. Pass marks - just about.
Brandon Williams (LB) - 4/10 - An evening the youngster will learn a lot from. Suso and Navas exploited his lack of experience and for all his endeavour, he was no stranger to being caught out. Positioning for Suso's goal was questionable.
6. Midfielders
Fred (CM) - 6/10 - Was he playing? Apparently. Didn't do much wrong but his deeper role in the team meant the game often passed him by.
Paul Pogba (CM) - 6/10 - Not at his best in a tightly-packed engine room but occasionally reminded us of his quality - like when he took a touch instead of clearing it on the edge of his box, turned, and sent Rashford away with a 40-yard cross-field pass.
Bruno Fernandes (CAM) - 8/10 - Characteristically bright and enthusiastic, constantly showing for the ball and unlocking doors if often isolated by a sturdy Sevilla midfield. Took his penalty superbly and might have had one or two more if luck was with him.
7. Forwards
Mason Greenwood (RW) - 7/10 - Another strong showing from the youngster who just keeps improving. Lacked composure in front of goal on one or two occasions but his movement was excellent and he offered a constant threat.
Anthony Martial (CF) - 6/10 - Looked a goal threat when he got on the ball, but wasn't on the ball often enough. Quick feet had Diego Carlos diving in all over the shop but wanted too much time on the ball, and was usually snuffed out before he could get a shot away.
Marcus Rashford (LW) - 5/10 - Started brightly but grew frustrated as the game went on. Was the weakest of the front three on the night and received a booking for dissent as he lost his cool midway through the second half.
