Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has laughed off suggestions that his side profit from biased refereeing decisions, after Los Blancos again benefited from a questionable call in Wednesday's 2-0 win over Real Mallorca.

Vinícius Júnior opened the scoring midway through the first half, but the Mallorca players protested that right-back Dani Carvajal had committed a foul in the build-up. VAR was consulted and the referee eventually declined to reverse the decision.

That is by no means the first time that VAR has helped Real's cause since football's restart, prompting Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué to suggest that officials are actively trying to ensure Los Blancos win the league title.

However, Ramos laughed off the accusations after Wednesday's game, insisting (via Marca) that Real are top of the table on merit.

"All the noise that is being made is normal," Ramos said. "It's made because we're top of the table. There wasn't as much talk before.

"I don't think [the referees] make any predetermined decisions. It seems that we have to thank the referees for being top. Don't let people make movies."

Ramos isn't the first Real figure to brush off the claims. Manager Zinedine Zidane previously insisted he was not interested in listening to unfounded allegations like these and his only focus is on guiding his team to the title.

The victory over Mallorca saw Real return to the top of the league table - a position which they will maintain if they keep winning games as a result of their superior head-to-head record against Barcelona.

Both Real and Barcelona still have seven games remaining, so there is still plenty of time for more twists and turns in La Liga's title tace.

For Zidane's side, they will now turn their attention to Sunday's game against bottom side Espanyol, which will come one day after Barcelona's trip to Celta Vigo.
