Sergio Ramos, who made the switch from Real Madrid to Paris Saint-Germain this summer, has stated that he hopes Kylian Mbappe will stay at the club this summer.

35-year-old Ramos ended a legendary 16-year career at Los Blancos earlier in the summer, moving to PSG on a free transfer. And, although French international Mbappe has been a target for Los Blancos, the former Real captain would rather keep him where he is for the moment.

"I would like him to stay at PSG because I like to play with the best," Ramos told the Spanish media in a video press conference (via Marca).

"When you make the decision to stay or go, it's very personal. I don't know what Kylian has in mind, but he can make the difference," he continued. "He's very young, there's a very good team here and it needs great players. I can bring my winning spirit and if I can pass that on to the team it will have been a success."

The fact that Ramos left the Santiago Bernebeu after being unable to negotiate a suitable contract surprised many. The 35-year-old is one of the greatest players in Real Madrid's history, having made 671 appearances and scored a whopping 101 goals from the backline. With Los Blancos, Ramos won 22 honours, including five La Liga titles and four Champions League trophies.

But the defender insists he holds no regrets over his decision to leave: "Looking back is always a mistake, I'm an adventurer. The priority was to come to a great team and the treatment they gave me [here at PSG] was key," he stated.

"Getting out your comfort zone is always good for all involved and I'm very happy with the step I've taken."

Despite his excitement over his new challenge at PSG, Ramos also confirmed that he will never forget his time at Real and will not celebrate against his former side - assuming they face each other in the Champions League.

Ramos also confirmed that Mbappe is not the only star he eagerly anticipates playing with. In spite of his previous distaste for Barcelona, Neymar is another player he is looking forward to lining up alongside.

"I'm excited to play with both [Neymar and Mbappe]," Ramos said. "I have a great relationship with Neymar, and Kylian is playing at a super high level.

"What I want is to win and for us all to pull in the same direction. We're on the right path."
