Sebastien Haller has returned to Borussia Dortmund training for the first time in six months after undergoing treatment on a testicular tumour.

Having only joined Dortmund at the beginning of July 2022 for €31m from Ajax, doctors discovered a malignant testicular tumour on Haller just weeks before the beginning of the season.

He underwent surgery and a rigorous chemotherapy routine which at times left him unable to get out of bed, before the Ivory Coast international slowly began to up his rehab back in Amsterdam with Ajax.

And Haller has now confirmed that he is back in Dortmund training, with the Bundesliga side carefully monitoring his progress and reintegration into first team activities.

Taking to Twitter, Haller said: "Happy New Year to all! And it's off to a great start for me because it means getting back on the field.

"2022 wasn't the easiest year but it prepared me for all the new challenges that 2023 will bring."

Speaking in a video posted by Dortmund's club channels, Haller added: "I’m finally back. It was not that easy but with your support it was better and easier to do, so I am just looking forward to seeing you in the stadium for some victories."
