Seattle Sounders are winless in their previous four matches, being outscored 8-3 in that span. The team has also fallen out of first place in the Western Conference behind Sporting KC. Both teams have 58 points, but Kansas City holds the tiebreaker.
Raul Ruidiaz, Leo Chu and Will Bruin are all questionable to play in Monday’s match. Head coach Brian Schmetzer said that Jordan Morris will play in the match, his first game action since tearing his ACL with Swansea City in late February. Morris’s last MLS appearance was in the Sounders’ 3-0 MLS Cup loss to Columbus Crew on December 12th, 2020.
LA Galaxy team news
Coming off of a 2-0 defeat against Sporting KC last Wednesday, LA Galaxy are currently 7th in the Western Conference with 46 points. The Galaxy are just one point ahead of 8th place Real Salt Lake and two ahead of ninth place LAFC.
Head coach Greg Vanney confirmed that Chicharito will be playing in Monday’s match and that he trained Friday afternoon after the Mexican star missed last week’s match against Sporting KC. Chicharito’s return makes for a short injury report for the Galaxy, with only Jorge Villafana questionable after missing the previous six matches with a bruise.

Two of the most successful clubs in MLS since the Sounders joined the league in 2009, LA Galaxy hold a 14-11-10 advantage in the 35 all-time meetings between the teams. Seattle have won both previous matches this season, 3-0 in Seattle on May 2nd, and 2-1 in Carson, California, on June 19th.
Seattle Sounders vs LA Galaxy score prediction
While the last couple of weeks have been rough for the Sounders, this is still a team with a legitimate chance to make a run at the MLS Cup. If Seattle wants to get back into shape ahead of the playoffs, it has to start Monday night against the Galaxy. For LA, any points would go a long way in extending the cushion above the playoff line and ahead of Real Salt Lake and LAFC as the season winds down. But, the Sounders’ talent coupled with Morris’s return at home should favor Seattle.
Prediction: Seattle Sounders 2-1 LA Galaxy
