Scotland host the Republic of Ireland in Nations League B Group 1 on Saturday night with both sides looking to boost their differing prospects.

The Scots are squeezing three games into this international break and made a brilliant start on Wednesday as a second-half blitz saw them beat Ukraine 3-0 and move to the top of the group.

Ireland, on the other hand, are nervously looking over their shoulder, sitting just one point above last placed Armenia.

Scotland team news

Nathan Patterson was stretchered off with a knee injury against Ukraine and will play no part. Aaron Hickey will come in for the Everton right-back. Andy Robertson was ruled out for three weeks earlier in September, leaving Kieran Tierney as the main presence on the left as Scotland manager Steve Clarke switched to a back four.

There could be a change in attack too, following Lyndon Dykes' remarkable two-goal cameo from the bench on Wednesday night. Che Adams could drop out to accommodate the Queens Park Rangers striker.

Ryan Fraser provided two assists for Dykes from the bench and could squeeze into the starting XI as a reward here.

Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is not in the Ireland squad, giving Southampton stopper Gavin Bazunu the chance to cement his spot between the sticks.

John Egan may start in place of Darragh Lenihan, who is also absent, while Matt Doherty could play on the right despite his lack of game time at Tottenham following his return from injury.

Scotland vs Republic of Ireland prediction

Scotland are up to speed in this international break thanks to their 3-0 victory over Ukraine, in which they were vibrant in possession and dogged without it.

However, Ireland's only win in this edition on the Nations League came against Scotland back in June, stunning their supporters with a clinical display in front of goal as they won 3-0.

The Tartan Army are favourites on home soil, though the visitors could exploit any potential fatigue after what was a tiresome affair for Clarke's side against Ukraine.

Prediction: Scotland 2-1 Republic of Ireland
