England ensured their qualification for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar courtesy of a comprehensive 10-0 win over part-timers San Marino.

The Three Lions went into the game knowing that a point would be enough and, long story short, they got the job done in some style.

The hosts' resistance lasted just over five minutes with Harry Maguire throwing his slabhead at Phil Foden's corner and leaving Elia Benedettini with no chance.

Soon after San Marino were ruing their luck when Filippo Fabbri prodded Bukayo Saka's tame right-footed effort past his own goalkeeper to make it 2-0.

Before the half-hour mark Harry Kane made it 3-0 from the spot after Dante Rossi was penalised for a handball in the box. The strike moved Kane above Tottenham legend Jimmy Greaves to fourth on England's all-time scorers list.

The Three Lions skipper then closed the gap on third-place Gary Lineker, scuffing Emile Smith Rowe's effort into the bottom corner for his side's fourth.

Kane soon had his third - and England's fifth - after San Marino conceded another penalty for handball. It represented the fifth hat-trick of his international career and he also became the first player to notch successive three-goal hauls for the Three Lions.

There was time for Kane to register a fourth before half time, too, with the strike taking him level with Lineker on the historical scoring charts.

After the break San Marino were initially tough to break down, but that did not last long. Just before the hour mark, Smith Rowe toasted his maiden England start by lashing home Tammy Abraham's flick-on.

With a shade over 20 minutes left to go the home side were reduced to ten, after Dante Rossi was shown a second yellow card for hauling Conor Gallagher down just outside the box.

Things got even worse from the resulting free kick, with Tyrone Mings nodding home Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross. Jude Bellingham then thought he had netted his first England goal, only for his strike to be bizarrely ruled out for a 'foul' in the build-up by Abraham.

The Roma man made up for his indiscretion in the 78th minute, finishing nicely to make it 9-0, and seconds later Saka got in on the act, nodding into the empty net to bring up double figures.

The result was three goals shy of England's biggest victory ever; a 13-0 victory over Ireland all the way back in February 1882.

Here are your Three Lions player ratings...

England player ratings vs San Marino

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Harry Maguire

Aaron Ramsdale (GK) - 6/10 - Shockingly, he actually had a save to make in the first half, getting down well to keep out a deflected effort.

Harry Maguire (CB) - 7/10 -
Nodded England in front, opting for an understated aeroplane celebration on this occasion.

Conor Coady (CB) - 6/10 -
The easiest game of his professional career went by without a hitch.

Tyrone Mings (CB) - 7/10 -
Probably enjoyed the chance to push forward a little bit down the left-hand side. Scored too.

2. Midfielders

Trent Alexander-Arnold (RWB) - 8/10 - Gave the ball away a disappointing amount early on but went on produced a few moments of magic, creating three goals.

Jude Bellingham (CM) - 7/10 - Produced a string of driving runs and always wanted the ball. Shame his goal got disallowed.

Kalvin Phillips (CM) - 6/10 - Misplaced two of his 58 passes during his 45-minute stint. Bet he's gutted.

Bukayo Saka (LWB) - 8/10 - Interesting to see him deployed a left-wing-back. Could this be his future in the England setup? Needless to say he got a lot of joy tonight.

3. Forwards

Phil Foden (RW) - 7/10 - Showcased his excellent passing from deep, as well as his lightning pace during the first half. Also set up the opener. Hooked at the break.

Harry Kane (ST) - 9/10 -
Clinical. His fourth goal was actually pretty nice too. Only a matter of time until he becomes England's all-time scorer.

Emile Smith Rowe (LW) - 8/10 -
A promising first start. Set up Kane's second and took his goal extremely well.

4. Substitutes

Ben Chilwell (LB) - 6/10 - Played on pure vibes, popping up in a number 10 position at times.

Conor Gallagher (CM) - 6/10 -
Weird that he made his England debut before his Chelsea debut. Modern football, ay? Did well nonetheless but will be gutted not to have finished his second-half chance.

Tammy Abraham (ST) - 6/10 -
Missed a big chance after coming on but lay one on a plate for Smith Rowe.

Reece James (RWB) - 6/10 - Did fine.
