Sadio Mane's boots have been given an upgrade by New Balance, in honour of the forward reaching the milestone of 100 Premier League goals.

New Balance revealed the specially designed Furon v6+ edition after Mane joined the 100 club in the Premier League, with his strike in the 5-0 win over Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

The boots feature gold detailing across the soleplate and Mane's bespoke insignia on the heel. The words ‘100 goals’ have also been added in tribute to his achievement.

Mane, who has five goals in eight Premier League appearances so far this season, is just the 31st player to bag 100 Premier League goals and only the third to do so without scoring a single penalty - the other two being Les Ferdinand (149 goals in total) and Emile Heskey (110).

Mane is also just the third African player to become a centurion, following Ivorian Didier Drogba (104) and, of course, his Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah (104). By the end of the campaign, the two Reds stars are more than likely to be the highest scoring Africans in Premier League history.

Mane has some way to go to catch the highest ranking former Liverpool player on the list though. Robbie Fowler is the eighth-highest Premier League scorer with 163 goals.

After the win over Watford, manager Jurgen Klopp said of Mane's achievement: "It's a special number, absolutely. He should be and will be, hopefully, proud of that.

"That doesn't happen for a lot of players. You don't have to talk about Sadio's quality - he's a world-class player as well. It's incredible how good he is."

The 5-0 victory kept up an unbeaten start to the season for Liverpool.

Though only second in the table, the Reds are the only team left in the Premier League in 2021/22 without a defeat to their name and are the division's top scorers with 22.

They take on Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday night before a trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on 24 October.
