In a must win for both sides, Juventus travel to face Roma at the Stadio Olimpico in Serie A on Sunday.

The Old Lady were held at home by title chasers Napoli in midweek, leaving them three points outside of the Champions League spots having played a game more than their rivals.

Pressure is also mounting on Jose Mourinho as his expensively assembled Roma side ended the game with nine men in a 3-1 defeat to Milan at San Siro, leaving them six points adrift of the top four.

Mourinho will be without the services of full back Rick Karsdorp and Gianluca Mancini after both were sent off in the defeat to Milan in midweek.

Amadou Diawara and Ebrima Darboe will both be absent after jetting off to the African Cup of Nations, while Borja Mayoral recently tested positive for Covid-19. Left-back Leandro Spinazzola remains a long-term absentee.

Midfielder Aaron Ramsey, whom Allegri confirmed is heading for the exit door, is unavailable for this one anyway, and neither is right-back Danilo.

Leonardo Bonucci missed the 1-1 draw with Napoli in midweek with a muscle injury, but there is some hope that he might be fit enough to return here, while Giorgio Chiellini could return if he can lodge a negative Covid-19 test in time.

Roma vs Juventus head-to-head record

The Old Lady are unbeaten in five out of their six games against Roma, although they have tasted victory just once in their last seven visits to the Stadio Olimpico to face the Giallorossi.

Allegri got the better of Mourinho in the reverse fixture this season back in September. Jordan Veretout missed a first half penalty for Roma - after Tammy Abraham had scored from the same move - as Moise Kean's early strike sealed a precious three points for the Bianconeri.

In contrast to his spells elsewhere, Mourinho's Roma look capable of scoring a handful in games, but they appear equally unable to keep the ball out at the opposite end.

Juventus will pose a defensive conundrum with Allegri's side unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions, but they are undoubtedly not the force they once were and they can be got at a little too easily.

It could be an evening where neither team can be separated.

Prediction: Roma 1-1 Juventus
