AC Milan cut the gap on Serie A leaders Inter to four points courtesy of victory over Champions League hopefuls Roma on Sunday night.

The visitors had the better chances throughout the first half and brought out plenty of good saves from Pau Lopez, eventually going ahead through Franck Kessie's penalty after Federico Fazio brought down Davide Calabria.

Roma grew into the game and equalised when midfielder Jordan Veretout sent a scorcher past Gianluigi Donnarumma into the top corner. However, the sharp Ante Rebic put Milan ahead again when he turned quickly and sent a drive low past Lopez.

The hosts did have a decent shout for a penalty when Henrikh Mkhitaryan was hauled down in the box, but there was no VAR check and Milan eventually departed the Stadio Olimpico with all three points, narrowing the gap on leaders and city rivals Inter.

Righto, let's get into some AC Milan ratings.

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Gianluigi Donnarumma (GK) - 7/10 - Didn't make his saves as eye-catchingly as opposite number Lopez but did crucially concede fewer goals.

Davide Calabria (RB) - 7/10 - Won the penalty by enticing Fazio into a silly challenge. Was solid down the right, making a game high four tackles.

Simon Kjaer (CB) - 7/10 - Hit the crossbar from a corner. Did find some joy in the opposition box and used the ball well.

Fikayo Tomori (CB) - 8/10 - Had the ball in the back of the net early on but was ruled offside. Produced a great block in the first half to deny Lorenzo Pellegrini from close range.

Theo Hernandez (LB) - 7/10 - Set up a nice chance for Ibrahimovic early on with some good pressing. Made another chance for himself later but fired wide. Very threatening going forward and solid defensively.

2. Midfielders

Sandro Tonali (CM) - 7/10 - Gave the ball away needlessly a few times early on but made a crucial block from Pellegrini midway through he first half. Grew as the game went on.

Franck Kessie (CM) - 7/10 - Made some excellent tackles that set Milan up on the break and dispatched his penalty confidently. Good in possession, both dribbling and distributing the ball.

Hakan Calhanoglu (AM) - 5/10 - Not particularly influential and had to be replaced by Brahim Diaz at half time due to injury.

3. Forwards

Alexis Saelemaekers (RW) - 7/10 - Brought a save out of Lopez when arriving on the end of a cut back. Got the assist for Rebic's strike and was also booked.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (ST) - 6/10 - Tackled Lopez but then conspired to backheel tamely with his back to an open goal. A few decent moments but was brought off just before the hour mark for Rafael Leao.

Ante Rebic (LW) - 8/10 - Forced Lopez into a decent save with a long range drive. Was sharp throughout and netted the winner when he turned away from Roma's defenders and fired into the bottom corner.

Brahim Diaz - 5/10

Rafael Leao - 6/10

Rade Krunic - 5/10

Samu Castillejo - 4/10
