Real Madrid will hope to continue their fine start to La Liga when they host Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday night.

Los Blancos have begun the second Carlo Ancelotti era in fine form, winning five and drawing one of their first six league games, scoring 21 goals in the process.

Villarreal are also unbeaten, though four of their results have been draws. Unai Emery's side have also conceded just three goals this season, meaning Real could be in for a tough task.

Real got through their game against Mallorca without picking up any further injuries but Carlo Ancelotti still has a lengthy list of concerns to deal with.

Dani Carvajal, Ferland Mendy, Gareth Bale and Dani Ceballos will not be present, with full-back remaining a particular area of concern.

Unfortunately for Villarreal, offensive talisman Gerard Moreno is not expected to be back for this one, after he missed his side's 4-1 triumph over Elche last time out.

Dani Raba and Samuel Chukwueze also missed that one and it does not look hopeful that they will be involved at the Bernabeu either.

The historical form book does not make great reading for Villarreal with the Yellow Submarines only beating Real four times in their history.

Los Blancos have won 26 of the 44 previous meetings with 14 ending all square.

Over the past two seasons, Real have stamped their authority on the fixture, winning both home meetings and snatching a point twice at Villarreal.

Villarreal represents Real's toughest test of the season so far, so do not expect to see a repeat of their 6-1 demolition of Mallorca on Wednesday.

With Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior in world-beating form, though, Ancelotti's charges should still manage to get the job done.
