Leicester City centre-back Wesley Fofana has admitted that he hopes to play for Real Madrid before his career comes to an end.

The 20-year-old has been excellent for Leicester since joining from Saint-Etienne in 2020, and there were rumours this summer that Real had taken an interest in Fofana as they prepared to lose both Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane.

Nothing concrete materialised, partly because Fofana suffered a nasty leg break during pre-season. He has since confessed to Oh My Goal's Colinterview that he would struggle to turn Los Blancos down if they came knocking.

"Rumours of a move to Real Madrid? It's an honour," Fofana said.

"Real Madrid are the club of my dreams. They're the biggest club in the world and my dream is to play there one day."

Those comments will be music to Real's ears. The Spanish side are already tracking Fofana as they prepare for an enormous squad rebuild over the coming years, and it seems as though they wouldn't have to work particularly hard to convince the Frenchman to leave Leicester.

Scouts will likely continue to monitor Fofana, but they'll have to wait until 2022 for their next glimpse of the centre-back while he recovers from his leg break.

In the meantime, Real will keep tracking other targets like Villarreal's Pau Torres and Sevilla's Jules Kounde, while Chelsea's Antonio Rudiger has also emerged as a person of interest in recent weeks.

Real have four centre-backs on the books as it stands. Summer signing David Alaba is a permanent starter when fit, but the club are still looking for his long-term partner and are yet to fully commit to any of Eder Militao, Nacho Fernandez or young Jesus Vallejo.
