Real Madrid have thanked Casemiro for his many years of service at the Santiago Bernabeu, as the Brazilian puts the finishing touches on a move to Manchester United.

The 30-year-old is heading to Old Trafford on a four-year deal after United agreed to pay £70m including add-ons for a player who has won everything there is to win during his time in the Spanish capital.

Casemiro had expressed a desire to take on a new challenge, to the surprise of manager Carlo Ancelotti, and will certainly have his hands full in a United side that is rooted to the bottom of the Premier League after two games.

Nevertheless, it's a challenge that Casemiro is likely well equipped for, as he's still regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in the game.

Ahead of the move being completed, Real Madrid have moved to thank Casemiro for his years of service - and posted a classy message on their official website when announcing an agreement had been reached with United.

"Real Madrid would like to express its gratitude and appreciation to Casemiro, who is part of the club's history," a statement read.

"In addition to this brilliant list of achievements, Casemiro will always be remembered by the Madridistas as representing the values of our club. An exemplary player who has given his all for Real Madrid.

"Real Madrid is and always will be his home, and we wish him and all his family the best of luck in this new chapter of his life."

A farewell press conference has been scheduled for Casemiro on Monday, the same day that United take on bitter rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford.
