Real Madrid have categorically denied reports that they have entered into negotiations with Kylian Mbappe over a move to the Santiago Bernabeu next summer.

Mbappe's contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the 2023/24 season and there has been little to suggest that he will put pen to paper on a new deal at the Parc des Princes.

With an exit from PSG increasingly likely, Mbappe is widely expected to sign for Real Madrid on a free transfer in the summer of 2024.

Los Blancos are unable to officially open negotiations with Mbappe about a summer move until January. Reports across the continent this week suggested the two parties have already held talks about a deal.

But Real Madrid have moved to dismiss such speculation with a club statement on Saturday afternoon which reads: "Given the information recently issued and published by different media outlets, in which there is speculation about alleged negotiations between the player Kylian Mbappe and our club, Real Madrid CF would like to state that this information is completely false and that no such negotiations have taken place with a player who belongs to PSG."

Mbappe was first expected to join Real Madrid in the summer of 2022 when his previous PSG contract was about to expire, only to surprisingly sign a new deal instead, much to the fury of the Spanish giants and La Liga.

Club president Florentino Perez suggested earlier this year that Mbappe would finally join the club in the summer of 2024, while various Real Madrid stars have spoken of their excitement at the possibility of playing alongside the French forward.
