Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping to see his team cut into Barcelona's lead atop La Liga when they travel to Girona on Tuesday evening.

Ancelotti has admitted there is a 'problem' with the Bernabeu pitch that he hopes will be fixed in time for the visit of Manchester City in the Champions League next month. But that won't be an issue here.

Here's a look at the starting XI the Real boss could pick...

Real Madrid predicted lineup vs Girona

GK: Thibaut Courtois - Four consecutive clean sheets in all competitions, looking for a fifth.

RB: Dani Carvajal - Could get a first La Liga outing since March due to the quick turnaround.

CB: Eder Militao - Netted his fifth La Liga goal of the season on Saturday and will be hoping for more.

CB: Antonio Rudiger - Could get the nod over David Alaba, who remains a doubt still.

LB: Eduardo Camavinga - Has proven himself to be a reliable left-back in recent months.

CM: Toni Kroos - Sat out the Celta game, but could return to rest others who did start.

CM: Luka Modric - No starts in the league since last month's Clasico. Again, the quick turnaround of games since the weekend could change that.

CM: Federico Valverde - Looking for his 26th La Liga start of the season.

RW: Rodrygo - Had a goal disallowed against Girona last time and will want to make his mark.

ST: Karim Benzema - Real don't really have alternative 'number nine' options, which will have to be addressed in the summer transfer window.

LW: Vinicius Junior - Six direct goal involvements in his last five La Liga appearances.
