Real Madrid duo Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy's fitness woes are a 'concern' for the club after an injury-hit few months for the full-backs.

Both Carvajal and Mendy are the first-choice left and right-backs at the Santiago Bernabeu, but the pair have managed just five appearances between them so far this season - with Mendy not even playing a single minute of football.

Carvajal had been dogged with injuries throughout the 2020/21 campaign, managing just 15 games in all competitions, and suffered yet another muscle injury in Real Madrid's recent meeting with Valencia. The most recent injury looks set to keep the full-back out for another two months or so.

Mendy, on the other hand, has been out since April with a tibia issue.

According to a report from Marca, Los Blancos are 'worried' about both full-backs injury woes and are keen to proceed with caution in their rehabilitation.

The report also provides some worrying revelations regarding Mendy's tibia injury. The French international is currently taking a 'break' from football activities due to mechanical issues.

Mendy legs are said to be 'not even' as a result of his tibia issues, and he is in pain when running or even walking. Due to this, Real Madrid's medical staff are unwilling to provide a timeframe for his return to football activities.

The injuries to Los Blancos' first-choice full-backs has led to the likes of Nacho Fernandez, Lucas Vazquez, David Alaba and even youngster Miguel Gutierrez getting run-outs at right and left-back in the opening months of the season. And despite the forced rotation in these positions, Carlo Ancelotti's side have started their La Liga campaign quite well - currently sitting top of the league.

Real Madrid will return to action on the 17 October when Athletic Bilbao visit the Bernabeu.
