Dani Carvajal agrees Real Madrid contract extension to 2025

Real Madrid full-back Dani Carvajal has agreed a contract extension with the club that promises to keep him at the Bernabeu until at least the summer of 2025.

Carvajal’s previous deal had been due to expire next year, but this new deal now secures his long-term future at his boyhood club.

The 29-year-old first joined Real’s youth ranks at the age of 10 in 2002, becoming a regular for Castilla in 2010 and making the first-team breakthrough in 2013 after a brief spell gaining experience in Germany at Bayer Leverkusen.

Carvajal was immediately a regular, playing 45 times in all competitions in his first season and winning the first of four Champions League titles. In eight years, he also won two La Liga titles, the Copa del Rey and four FIFA Club World Cup trophies.

Injuries limited the player to only 15 appearances in all competition last season, but his new contract underlines the faith he has from the club hierarchy.

Carvajal is the latest Real player to agree a new contract. The first deal of the summer saw veteran midfielder Luka Modric commit to a one-year extension until 2022, with Lucas Vazquez signing a fresh deal until 2024 and versatile defender Nacho secured until 2023.

Now that Carvajal’s future has been sorted, the next new contract is expected to be for Karim Benzema. The 33-year-old striker is currently on terms that expire next summer and his expected new deal is reported by Marca to be an extension until 2023.

Benzema scored 33 goals in all competitions for Real last season, including 23 in La Liga. He has been top scorer each year since Cristiano Ronaldo left in 2018 and has reached a status of renewed importance to the club after emerging from the legend's shadow.
