Julian Nagelsmann will be unable to call upon the services of key defender Dayot Upamecano as the centre-back is suspended. Benjamin Henrichs, who featured last time out against Manchester United, will miss the home tie due to a knee injury. Hee-chan Hwang recently tested positive for COVID-19 so is also set to be absent for this game.

Fred was shown two yellow cards vs PSG last time out in the Champions League, so he will not travel to Germany with the United squad. Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial are doubts after picking up injuries vs West Ham on Saturday.

David De Gea missed the West Ham game entirely after with a knee problem, though the expectation is the Spaniard will be fit to face Leipzig. Both Phil Jones and Luke Shaw are still sidelined.

Predicted Lineups

RB Leipzig: Gulasci; Mukiele, Konate, Halstenberg, Angelino; Haidara, Kampl, Sabitzer; Forsberg, Nkunku, Poulsen

Manchester United: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Telles; McTominay, Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Mata; Rashford, Greenwood

Recent Form

RB Leipzig come into this fresh off a draw and strong showing against Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich. The 3-3 score showed two sides to Leipzig - their attacking strength and defensive vulnerability.

Die Roten Bullen defence's porous nature was also on display when United put five past them in the reverse fixture. However, they managed to follow their embarrassing loss at Old Trafford up with two wins against PSG and Istanbul Basaksehir despite conceding four goals in total.

As mentioned before, the last time these two sides met Manchester United pulled off an emphatic win with goals from Greenwood and Martial, topped off by a Marcus Rashford hat-trick. However, in matchday five of the Champions League, PSG managed to take all three points at Old Trafford as United failed to capitalise on the chances that were created.

Here are the latest results for both clubs.

RB Leipzig

Bayern Munich 3-3 Leipzig (5/12)
Istanbul Basaksehir 3-4 Leipzig (2/12)
Leipzig 2-1 Arminia Bielefeld (28/11)
PSG 1-0 Leipzig (24/11)
Frankfurt 1-1 Leipzig (21/11)

Manchester United

West Ham 1-3 Manchester United (5/12)
Manchester United 1-3 Paris Saint-Germain (2/12)
Southampton 2-3 Manchester United (29/11)
Manchester United 4-1 Istanbul Basaksehir (24/11)
Manchester United 1-0 West Brom (21/11)

Prediction

Manchester United should get the job done

When Manchester United's backs are against the wall, they seem to have this tendency to always come through. That is seen time and time again with the Red Devils' comebacks in the Premier League.

Additionally, RB Leipzig don't seem to have what it takes at the back to keep out Manchester United's attacking talent, especially with Upamecano missing. You cant look past a Manchester United win in this one.

Prediction: RB Leipzig 1-2 Manchester United
