Now that Pep Guardiola's future is secure, Manchester City are said to have turned their attentions to Raheem Sterling, who they hope will sign a lucrative new long-term deal in the foreseeable future.

The England forward has gone from strength to strength during his time at the Etihad, putting to bed the questions that once existed about his end product. He's scored more than 100 goals for the club over five seasons and has enjoyed a productive start to 2020/21.

The Mirror say a new deal for the 25-year-old is the priority now that Guardiola is around until 2023. Sterling's existing deal runs until the end of the 2022/23 season, but the club want to leave nothing to chance.

The report squares with what 90min exclusively reported at the beginning of November. While it doesn't go into detail over his salary, 90min understand he will earn more than £400,000 per week under his new terms, similar to what is being offered to Kevin De Bruyne.

As much as Sterling's on-field performances have caught the eye, so too has his conduct behind the scenes. He was hailed as an 'inspiration' by national hero and England team-mate Marcus Rashford, after he announced that he would start a charity to help disadvantaged children last month.

“I’m not really fussed about having this million and that million," Sterling said. "What will make me happy is seeing I am able to help. Even if it’s five people, even if it’s one, at least I have helped someone come out of their bubble and experienced that there is something better to England.

“I want this to be humongous, and not just humongous for myself but for the people involved."
