Gareth Southgate is set to leave out a number of high-profile players for England's Euro 2024 qualifiers in June.

The Three Lions travel to Malta on June 16 before returning to Wembley three days later to take on North Macedonia.

England are top of their qualifying group after two games having beaten Italy and Ukraine in March.

Southgate will name his squad for these upcoming fixtures at 2pm BST, and the Daily Mail report that Raheem Sterling is set to be one of several star names likely to be omitted.

Sterling has struggled to find form since making the move from Manchester City to Chelsea last summer, though has at least scored nine goals in 37 games in all competitions for the Blues despite their disastrous season.

The 28-year-old was also notably left out of Southgate's squad for England's March internationals, but it's believed any absence from this roster would be in view with him getting an extended period of rest rather than due to his form.

Chelsea might not have any representatives in the squad with Reece James, Ben Chilwell and Mason Mount all injured, though Conor Gallagher could be called up again.

Newcastle's Callum Wilson and Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins are in line for recalls in place of the banned Ivan Toney, whose Brentford teammate Rico Henry is said to have turned the heads of England scouts with a series of fine performances.

90min understands that Brighton trio Lewis Dunk, Solly March and Jason Steele are in contention for call-ups.
