Pumas UNAM and the Seattle Sounders go head-to-head in Mexico City on Wednesday night in the first leg of their Concacaf Champions League final clash.

The Liga MX side have never won this tournament since its rebrand in 2008, but did pick up three titles between 1980 and 1989.

As for the Sounders, they're looking to become the first MLS team to lift the trophy since that aforementioned rebrand, following runner-up finishes from LAFC, Real Salt Lake, CF Montreal, and Toronto FC in the past.

The game won't be decided on Wednesday night with the second leg heading to Lumen Field next week, but the stage will be set and we could be in for a fiery encounter.

Pumas vs Seattle Sounders head-to-head record

This is the first competitive meeting between these two teams.

Pumas have already knocked out MLS opposition in this year's Champions League, beating the New England Revolution in the quarter-finals. Likewise, the Seattle Sounders beat Liga MX's Club Leon at the same stage.

Pumas vs Seattle Sounders score prediction

This isn't the game that decides the tie, but it could leave one of these teams with a mountain to climb in the second leg.

As the hosts, the onus will be on Pumas to play on the front foot on Wednesday which will seriously test the Sounders' backline, but also leave space for the likes of Jordan Morris, Albert Rusnak, and Raul Ruidiaz, who are ruthless in transition.

Expect an entertaining game with the Sounders in some form of control heading back home.

Prediction: Pumas UNAM 2-2 Seattle Sounders
