PSG's Ultimate 25-Man Ligue 1 Squad
Paris Saint-Germain have a vice-like grip on France's Ligue 1, winning seven of the last eight titles available.
Les Parisiens have played host to some of the world's greatest players - particularly in the years since they were taken over by their big-spending owners.
Here's an ultimate 25-man squad of PSG's best from the 21st century...
Goalkeepers
Salvatore Sirigu - PSG's most successful goalkeeper having played in four consecutive league title-winning seasons from 2011 to 2015. The Italian broke a club record for most minutes without conceding in 2013 with 697 minutes undefeated.
Bernard Lama - Lama is the man Sirigu took that record off. The French stopper played more than 250 games for PSG throughout the 1990s but his time also spilled into 2000 - so he sneaks into the squad. He was an ever-present for a number of years and a World Cup-winner to boot.
Keylor Navas - A triple Champions League-winner makes up our keeping trio. Costa Rican Navas remains one of the most underrated keepers of his generation and looks set to be key for PSG for years to come, following his move from Real Madrid last summer.
Centre Backs
Thiago Silva - One of the best defenders and captains on the planet. Fast, intelligent and incredibly tough, he has led the side to seven Ligue 1 titles already. A player you want on your team, not in the opposition's.
Marquinhos - Often Thiago's partner at the back for the most successful period in the club's history and still only 25, Marquinhos is already being heralded as a future club captain. An adaptable, composed player with great passing ability, he's shown he can even operate in defensive midfield.
Presnel Kimpembe - The third of the current batch of outstanding centre back's has bagfuls of potential. The pacy, tall Frenchman already has a World Cup winner's medal and is surely the long-term partner to Marquinhos.
Mamadou Sakho - Now bear with me, let's all remember this guy once moved to Liverpool for £18m. He may not be the same player anymore, but back at PSG he was aggressive, dominant and a real presence at the back.
Right Backs
Thomas Meunier - Something of a late developer in terms of European pedigree, but he's arguably been one of the best right backs in the world in recent years. Heavily linked with Spurs and Arsenal, he has solidified PSG's right side.
Christophe Jallet - Jallet just pips longtime rival Ceará to this spot. Versatile, experienced and with great crossing ability, Jallet skippered the side in the absence of Sakho during the 2011/12 season. He could also play in midfield and won two league titles.
Left Backs
Maxwell - Incredibly consistent, skilful and well-liked, Brazilian Maxwell (who also played for Inter and Barcelona) at the time of his retirement in 2017, was the most decorated active player in Europe. Still with the club as assistant sporting director.
Sylvain Armand- Played nine seasons and 285 games for the club; a loyal servant who was finally rewarded with a league title in 2013. Armand was a versatile player who struck up a great partnership with Jerome Rothen on the left side.
Central Midfielders
Marco Verratti - Another seven-time league winner, Verratti is often compared to Andrea Pirlo and is one of the most successful playmakers in Europe. The diminutive Italian is a key cog in the current PSG midfield.
Blaise Matuidi - One of the finest French talents in a generation, Matuidi has adapted from a defensive player to an effective left-sided box-to-box midfielder with a great instinct for late runs, ball carrying and tactical nous.
Claude Makélélé - Matuidi cites this guy as his main influence and it's easy to see why. Makélélé was so good at his role in the middle of the park that we've named the position after him. Was still super effective for PSG after his move from Chelsea in 2008.
Thiago Motta- Another player who is well-travelled in Europe and highly decorated at PSG as well as Barcelona and Inter. A defensive powerhouse with great heading ability, Motta won 27 major honours throughout his club career.
Wingers
Neymar Jr.- The Brazilian superstar plays on both flanks so this is passable. 47 goals in 53 league games really says it all. If he was playing in a different era, he'd probably be the very best.
Kylian Mbappé - Another global superstar who is at the very beginning of his journey. Already a World Cup winner with France, Mbappé possesses some of the best dribbling and movement in the world, and he's only 21; scary stuff.
Ángel Di Maria- The less that's said about that single season at Man Utd the better really. At PSG, he has been very much back to his best. A Champions League winner, the set-piece specialist now has more than 100 international caps for Argentina.
Jérôme Rothen- Rothen, who famously once upset Zidane, probably doesn't get the recognition he deserves, hence why he makes it in here. Never quite hit the heights he did for Monaco but was a regular and rare highlight on the left flank as the team struggled during the mid to late 2000's.
Attacking Midfielders
Ronaldinho - Many forget that Ronaldinho's European journey began at the Parc des Princes. Rumours of a fall out with coach Luis Fernández marred his spell in Paris, but off the back of his impressive performances in his two seasons there, Barça came calling. The rest is history.
Javier Pastore - As a youngster, five-time Ligue 1 winner Pastore was one of the most highly-rated attacking players in the world. His best years were between 2011 and 2015 where he provided numerous assists and goals. He now plies his trade in Serie A with Roma.
Nenê - Before Pastore's arrival, tricky Brazilian Nenê was the main main at PSG. He scored 21 goals in the 2011/12 season before his career fell off a cliff somewhat. He went on to briefly play for West Ham in 2015, obviously.
Strikers
Edinson Cavani - PSG's all-time leading goal scorer Edinson Cavani is still leading the line for the club after seven seasons, and although a little past his peak now (he once hit 49 goals in 50 games in 2017), the Uruguayan will go down as one of the very best.
Zlatan Ibrahimović - He's moved around a fair bit but the most profitable period of Zlatan's career came in Paris. One of the greatest characters the game has ever produced, he was always watchable and never dull. Remarkably still going strong at 38, he is now at Milan.
Pauleta- Three-time winner of top goal scorer in Ligue 1, Portuguese forward Pauleta was the perfect front man for PSG for several seasons in the early 2000's. An agile, technical player who was a real team man, he is a club legend.
