Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed the hiring of Luis Campos as their new sporting advisor for the coming season.
Campos has formed a reputation as an outstanding talent scout and is famed for his work in turning Monaco and Lille into Ligue 1 powerhouses in recent years.
He comes in to replace former sporting director Leonardo and will focus on the 'performance, recruitment, and organisational side of the men’s professional team'.
“I am delighted to be joining Paris Saint-Germain, which I consider is the most ambitious and exciting club in world football," Campos said upon his arrival. "I believe strongly in and share the vision of the Club and I cannot wait to get started to further unleash the great potential of this exceptional Club.”
One of Campos' first tasks will be to sort out the future of manager Mauricio Pochettino. 90min understands that the Argentine will be relieved of his duties later this week, having failed to impress during his time at the Parc des Princes.
The feeling is that Campos has his sights set on former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane. Sources have confirmed that the Frenchman is in Qatar, home of the owners of PSG, although the purpose of his trip is not yet clear.
