Well, last weekend certainly served up some Premier League drama.

Whether it was Tottenham's dramatic VAR-fuelled thriller with Liverpool, Aston Villa's six-goal demolition of Brighton or shock defeats for Manchester City and Manchester United, there was controversy around every corner.

This weekend promises to be similarly enthralling, with six games to feast your eyes on this Saturday. Man Utd, Chelsea and Spurs return to action, while the newly-promoted trio of Burnley, Luton Town and Sheffield United also take to the field in some significant fixtures.

With the international break on its way, don't take this weekend's Premier League action for granted.

Here is your guide to Saturday's six Premier League matches.

Luton vs Tottenham

  • Location: Luton, England
  • Stadium: Kenilworth Road
  • Date: Saturday 7 October
  • Kick-off Time: 12:30 BST / 07:30 ET / 04:30 PT
  • Referee: John Brooks
  • VAR: Michael Oliver

Luton squandered a huge opportunity midweek when they fell to a late defeat against fellow strugglers Burnley at Kenilworth Road. The Hatters managed an 84th-minute equaliser only to concede a minute later, with Rob Edwards' side missing the chance to move further clear of the relegation zone.

It won't get much simpler for Luton this weekend when they welcome Tottenham, one of only two sides still unbeaten in the Premier League. Ange Postecoglou will be hoping for a quieter Saturday this weekend after his side's 96th-minute winner against Liverpool was lost amid a sea of VAR controversies.

Free-scoring Tottenham head into this game as clear favourites, knowing a victory will take them to the top of the table before Arsenal's clash with Man City on Sunday.

Burnley vs Chelsea

  • Location: Burnley, England
  • Stadium: Turf Moor
  • Date: Saturday 7 October
  • Kick-off Time: 15:00 BST / 10:00 ET / 07:00 PT
  • Referee: Stuart Attwell
  • VAR: Darren Bond

Chelsea's stuttering start to the new season took a positive turn on Monday evening when they won only their second Premier League game under Mauricio Pochettino. A quick-fire double from Mykhailo Mudryk and the returning Armando Broja helped the Blues past west London rivals Fulham, lifting them to 11th in the league table.

A second successive win is exactly what Pochettino needs to ease some of the pressure, with an away trip to Burnley a must-win fixture ahead of a difficult post-international break run.

Luton's loss was Burnley's gain on Tuesday night, the Clarets winning their first match since their return to the top flight. Vincent Kompany will be hopeful that win at Kenilworth Road can act as a springboard for his side, but, regardless of Chelsea's form, Saturday will be a much tougher test.

Everton vs Bournemouth

  • Location: Liverpool, England
  • Stadium: Goodison Park
  • Date: Saturday 7 October
  • Kick-off Time: 15:00 BST / 10:00 ET / 07:00 PT
  • Referee: David Coote
  • VAR: Simon Hooper

Bournemouth are one of only two sides without a Premier League win, which means they will almost certainly get one at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon. That was the case for Luton last weekend, with Everton having lost all four of their home games this season, all while managing just one goal.

The Toffees have scored just six goals this season despite an expected goals total of 14.4, while Sean Dyche's side also have 7.63 points fewer than they should have based on the underlying numbers. Their torrid home form has been their downfall, but Bournemouth offer them a good opportunity to break the curse.

Andoni Iraola's side are winless for a reason, having seriously underwhelmed in the opening seven matches of the season. The Cherries sit in 19th with three draws to their name, simultaneously conceding too many goals and not scoring enough of their own. However, a win on Merseyside would see them leapfrog Everton in the table.

Fulham vs Sheffield United

  • Location: London, England
  • Stadium: Craven Cottage
  • Date: Saturday 7 October
  • Kick-off Time: 15:00 BST / 10:00 ET / 07:00 PT
  • Referee: Sam Barrott
  • VAR: Paul Tierney

If Bournemouth and Everton are feeling blue about their performances this season, they have nothing on Sheffield United. The Blades have accumulated just one point from their opening seven games, sitting bottom of the table with six defeats to their name.

One of those was an utterly humiliating 8-0 loss at the hands of Newcastle United, with last-gasp defeats to Nottingham Forest, Man City and Tottenham similarly brutal. Paul Heckingbottom's neck is on the line and a defeat to Fulham on Saturday could see him ejected from the Sheffield United hot-seat before the international break.

Fulham have also struggled for form this season and are missing the presence of Aleksandar Mitrovic up front. The Cottagers have struggled for goals, with their two wins against Everton and Luton both finishing just 1-0.

Manchester United vs Brentford

  • Location: Manchester, England
  • Stadium: Old Trafford
  • Date: Saturday 7 October
  • Kick-off Time: 15:00 BST / 10:00 ET / 07:00 PT
  • Referee: Andy Madley
  • VAR: Peter Bankes

The visit of Brentford to Old Trafford this Saturday could bring a disastrous week for Man Utd to a nightmarish end. Erik ten Hag's side have lost two home games on the bounce to Crystal Palace and Galatasaray and will be desperate not to make it a hat-trick this weekend.

The only positive United supporters could take from their 3-2 Champions League defeat on Tuesday was Rasmus Hojlund. The young striker grabbed himself a European brace with two tidy finishes, even having a third ruled out for offside. With their defence misfiring, Man Utd need Hojlund now more than ever.

Brentford have endured a similarly slow start to the campaign and have seriously missed the influence of the banned Ivan Toney in attack. A 1-1 draw to Nottingham Forest last Sunday brought a three-game losing run to an end, but the Bees haven't won a league match since 19 August.

Crystal Palace vs Nottingham Forest

  • Location: London, England
  • Stadium: Selhurst Park
  • Date: Saturday 7 October
  • Kick-off Time: 17:30 BST / 12:30 ET / 09:30 PT
  • Referee: Craig Pawson
  • VAR: Michael Salisbury

Roy Hodgson's Old Trafford heroics continued last weekend as he became the first manager in Premier League history to visit Man Utd five times in a row without losing. Joachim Andersen's first-half strike turned out to be the winner, lifting Palace above the Red Devils in the table.

Nottingham Forest's weekend result was similarly impressive, but in a different way. Steve Cooper's side went down to ten men against visiting Brentford after Moussa Niakhate's red card, also conceding from the subsequent free-kick. However, Forest rallied, picking up a valuable point thanks to Nicolas Dominguez's looping header.

This will likely be a close encounter, with neither side capable of blowing the other away. However, Nottingham Forest's away record since getting promoted last season leaves a lot to be desired, perhaps giving Palace the edge.
