The match of Euro 2020 so far was played out on Saturday evening, as a rampant Germany ran out 4-2 winners against Portugal in Group F.

It was a dominant display from Die Mannschaft in the first half but, although Robin Gosens's stunning finish was chalked off for offside, it was Portugal who broke the deadlock on 15 minutes. Bernardo Silva led a sweeping counter attack move before lofting the ball into the path of Diogo Jota who, in turn, laid the ball on a plate for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Joachim Low's men did find a reply 20 minutes later, however, when Gosens' cross was diverted into his own net by Ruben Dias. And within four minutes Portugal had scored a second own goal, when Raphael Guerreiro swiped at Joshua Kimmich's cut back, directing it into the roof of Rui Patricio's net.

It only took the Germans six minutes in the second half to notch their third of the evening. Thomas Muller played the ball out to Gosens who fired in a low cross for Havertz to slot into the bottom corner form close range.

It was 4-1 on the hour mark, when Kimmich and Muller combined on the right before the former crossed for fellow wing back Gosens to head in unopposed at the back post.

Portugal managed a response just seven minutes later, though. Ronaldo latched onto Joao Moutinho's cross and pulled it back across goal for Jota to tap in at the back stick to make it 4-2.

Both sides pressed to find the seventh in a thrilling contest - most notably substitute Renato Sanches unleashing a thunderbolt from range that smacked the post - but couldn't find it. The 4-2 win signals a huge result for Germany, who now find themselves level on points with Portugal and just one behind leaders France in Group F.

Now, let's see how the players rated...

Portugal player ratings

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Rui Patricio (GK) - 6/10 - Made several tidy saves throughout but had very little chance with the goals.

Nelson Semedo (RB) - 3/10 - Was simply overrun by Germany's left hand side and couldn't keep tabs on Gosens in particular. Left far too much space for runners and crosses and didn't add all that much going forward.

Pepe (CB) - 6/10 - Was fairly alert to most danger that came Portugal's way, making three clearances. But, my goodness, he's the most infuriating footballer to watch, isn't he?

Ruben Dias (CB) - 6/10 - Was faced with a very on-song front three and made several crucial interventions in the box, six clearances and faired well in one-on-one situations. Desperately unlucky to have scored the own goal.

Raphael Guerreiro (LB) - 3/10 - Delivered some quality from the left but struggled defensively. Like Semedo, couldn't cope with the overloads and eventually scored his side's second own goal trying to recover.

2. Midfielders

Danilo (CM) - 6/10 - A very tough time trying to close down spaces with such a fluid attacking performance, but did manage to pick up some good positions to cut out spaces in dangerous areas, making four interventions.

William Carvalho (CM) - 4/10 - Had some dodgy moments in possession and at times left far too much space in front of the back four. Also failed to inject any zing when trying to surge forward.

Bruno Fernandes (AM) - 6/10 - Was quite absent throughout and, apart from a few lovely balls forward and silky touches, failed to make an impact on proceedings.

3. Forwards

Bernardo Silva (RW) - 6/10 - Didn't have the best of times out wide, struggling to really put his stamp on things, However, played a huge part in the opener, leading the counter brilliantly before being taken off at the break.

Cristiano Ronaldo (ST) - 7/10 - Scored a record-extending opener but, bar some naughty showboating, pretty much disappeared until getting the assist for Jota's goal.

Diogo Jota (LW) - 7/10 - This time chose the unselfish option to tee up Ronaldo (wise) and looked to make runs in behind throughout. Got the easiest goal of his life for his side's second, and deserved it.

4. Substitutes

Renato Sanches (CM) - 6/10 - So unlucky not to score with an absolute rocket on 78 minutes, smashing the upright and leaving Manuel Neuer helpless.

Rafa Silva (LW) - 6/10

Joao Moutinho (CM) - 6/10 - Had an instant impact, putting in the free kick that led to Portugal's second.

Andre Silva (ST) -

5. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Manuel Neuer (GK) - 6/10 - Had very little to do between the sticks apart from the goals, with which he had very little chance.

Matthias Ginter (CB) - 6/10 - Pushed on a lot in an attempt to allow Kimmich to drift inside and actually delivered some peaches into the area - notably for the disallowed goal early on. His attacking output did mean he left the back a little bare at times, though.

Mats Hummels (CB) - 7/10 - Performed well as the last man, making six interventions and remaining firm composed throughout.

Antonio Rudiger (CB) - 7/10 - Another strong and no-nonsense display from the Chelsea man. Wasn't letting any runners get in behind and faced up well for one-on-ones.

6. Wing-backs & Midfielders

Joshua Kimmich (RWB) - 9/10 - Made an impact going forward, showing fantastic vision and execution when roaming into central areas and looking to put the front three in behind. Although, his stand out moments came from wide, firstly setting up Gosens to eventually force the equaliser, then cutting the ball back to force an own goal from Guerreiro and finally crossing for his side's fourth.

Ilkay Gundogan (CM) - 7/10 - Coped with Portugal's press well enough and always looked to release progressive balls, managing a pass accuracy of 95% in the process.

Toni Kroos (CM) - 8/10 - Broke play up well, making five ball recoveries. As usual showed his ability to spread the ball effortlessly but was much more willing to step forward and directly affect things in the final third.

Robin Gosens (LWB) - 10/10 - What a stunning performance. Up and down, then down and up - all game. Finished incredibly for the disallowed goal, forced the opener with a beautiful cross, assisted the third and finally got a deserved goal to make it 4-1. Simply sensational throughout.

7. Forwards

Kai Havertz (RW) - 9/10 - Looked up for the occasion from the get go. Constantly put himself about and looked to engineer space for himself. Was a real handful throughout and his presence forced his side's first before finally getting a deserved goal to make it 3-1.

Thomas Muller (CF) - 8/10 - Wasn't as thrilling as his front three partners, but still put in a good shift. Found time in and around the area and linked up well, notably playing a huge part in his side's second and fourth goals while also making two key passes.

Serge Gnabry (LW) - 8/10 - Unpredictable, creative and dangerous throughout. Somehow didn't walk away with a goal or an assist, but presented massive problems all game.

8. Substitutes

Emre Can (CB) - 6/10

Marcel Halstenberg (LWB) - 6/10

Niklas Sule (CB) - 6/10

Leon Goretzka (CM) - 6/10

Leroy Sane (LW) - N/A
