The police will be taking no further action against Callum Hudson-Odoi following his arrest after a rape allegation last month.

The Chelsea and England forward was taken into custody following a late-night incident at his home and was subsequently bailed.

Hudson-Odoi today confirmed that the police have halted their investigation, via a statement posted on his Twitter account.

"At a time where there are bigger things happening in the world right now, you may be aware of serious allegations that were made against me," he wrote. "I have stayed silent and assisted the police fully throughout their enquiries, as I knew the day would soon come when my name would be cleared.

"Following a full and thorough investigation, the police have now confirmed they will take no further action."

Hudson-Odoi went on to thank those would had supported him during the investigations, while also vowing to improve himself both on and off the pitch in the future.

"I would like to use this platform to thank everyone who has stood by my side and supported me during this difficult period," the statement continued.

"I have learned that being a footballer and playing for one of the best clubs in the world comes with great responsibility, and going forward I will try and use my platform as a Chelsea player to be the best role model that I can be."

Hudson-Odoi is unlikely to return to on field action next Sunday when the Blues' Premier League campaign gets back underway against Aston Villa, after he picked a minor injury in a recent friendly with Reading. The 19-year-old has suffered several other fitness issues this season, but has still managed to make 27 appearances in all competitions.

Frank Lampard's side currently sit in fourth place but have a host of teams breathing down their neck in the race for Champions League qualification.
