The players who are suspended in the Champions League this week
The first legs served as a mere teaser for what's about to follow. For many, this is when the Champions League knockout stages truly begin.
The round of 16 second legs are upon us, with this week's selection of fixtures poised to produce the tension and drama we commonly associate with mammoth European ties. Well, apart from Benfica vs Club Brugge which we assume is pretty much a done deal.
Nevertheless, just one goal currently separates the two sides in each of the other three ties. It's very much all to play for in the Champions League.
However, UEFA's suspension rules mean several players will be missing out this week. Yellow card accumulation warrants a one-game ban, and here are those that will be absent from the upcoming second legs as a result.
Chelsea vs Borussia Dortmund suspension news
Each team will have one player missing through suspension on Tuesday night. Mason Mount misses out for Chelsea after he picked up his third yellow card of the campaign in the reverse fixture, while Julian Ryerson has to sit out for the away side.
Mount was likely to miss the second leg through injury anyway.
Benfica vs Club Brugge suspension news
Benfica eased to a 2-0 triumph in the first leg and they're expected to coast into the last eight on Tuesday night. Roger Schmidt has no players suspended for Club Brugge's visit.
Four players have already served one-game suspensions due to yellow card accumulation this season for the Belgian outfit, but Scott Parker has a full cohort of players to select from on Tuesday.
Tottenham vs AC Milan suspension news
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg served his one-game suspension in Milan, but Tottenham will be without Eric Dier on Wednesday night after the defender picked up a harsh booking in the first leg.
Clement Lenglet will replace the Englishman at the heart of Antonio Conte's defence.
The visitors have no players missing through suspension.
Bayern Munich vs Paris Saint-Germain suspension news
Benjamin Pavard's late dismissal in Paris means he'll miss the return leg on Wednesday, while the visitors have no players suspended. Marco Verratti and Neymar have already served one-game suspensions for yellow card accumulation.
