PFA Vertu Motors Championship Fans' Player of the Month - October nominees

90min is the home of the PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Month Award for the 2022/23 season.

Each month, you can vote for your favourite players across five divisions of English football, for the chance to win incredible prizes, including the opportunity to present the award to the winning player.

It was a hectic month of fixtures in the Championship to say the least, but regular PFA Fans' Player of the Month nominee Ben Brereton Diaz was bang in form once more.

Blackburn won six of their eight games in October, including each one that Brereton Diaz netted in. Millwall for the first to be put to the sword, before goals against Rotherham (a brace) and Sunderland followed.


2. Jerry Yates (Blackpool)

It was a brilliant month for Blackpool's Jerry Yates as he finished October as the Championship's leading marksman.

Yates claimed three braces in the month against Watford, Sheffield United and local rivals Preston, where he also claimed an assist.

He finished the month with a crucial goal in the 2-1 win at Coventry City, making it seven goals in seven games.


3. Ian Maatsen (Burnley)

On loan from Premier League heavyweights Chelsea, Ian Maatsen has played a big part in Burnley's run of good form.

Playing from left wing-back, the Dutchman grabbed two assists in October against Cardiff and Swansea, and also helped Vincent Kompany's side to keep three clean sheets.


4. Zian Flemming (Millwall)

Dutch midfielder Zian Flemming really stepped up for Millwall in October, showing he has a real liking for English football with four goals.

The 24-year-old claimed a crucial strike in the 1-1 draw with Rotherham before following that up with both goals in the 2-0 win over Middlesbrough.

He then claimed the winner in the 2-1 win at Bristol City.


5. Lyndon Dykes (Queens Park Rangers)

Four goals in October from Lyndon Dykes helped Queens Park Rangers reach the top of the Championship table at one stage.

The Scot bagged braces against Reading, in a 2-1 win, and Cardiff, a more resounding 3-0 success. He also played a key role in helping Michael Beale's side to three other wins during the month.


6. Ismaila Sarr (Watford)

Ismaila Sarr showed why he is regarded as one of the best players in the Championship during October, with three goals and two assists for Watford.

The Senegalese international began the month with both a goal and assist in the 4-0 win at Stoke, before an assist in the win over Norwich was followed by a goal in the commanding derby win over Luton Town.
