Sporting Kansas City have yet to win a game this season after 10 games played in the 2023 MLS campaign.

The pressure keeps piling on for Sporting Kansas City and their head coach Peter Vermes after yet another loss on Saturday night, falling 2-0 to CF Montreal. Now, the two-time MLS Cup champions have scored just three goals and are the only remaining side without a win this season.

"We're not playing well. We haven't won a game. We haven't created high-quality chances here in the last couple of games. We've had opportunities in the first probably like six or seven games, I think we were in and around the box quite a bit," said Vermes.

"Those we weren't finishing. Right now I think a lot of our shots are coming from further out and we just don't get numbers in the box at the moment."

In February, Vermes signed a five-year contract extension that runs through 2028. Though Vermes does not appear to be on the chopping block, the deal does not guarantee his place.

"...I think the first day when you enter this business you always gotta know your job is always at stake. Always know that. Never thought differently in any of the time I've been here. ... I understand. It's not good enough, responsibility's on me. So, I get it" Vermes added.

But things need to turn around quickly, and no one seems to know how to go able that. Club captain Johnny Russell added that the team is currently at a loss.

"I don't know how you fix it. I'm going to be completely honest. We just don't look anything like the team that we were. I don't know. I genuinely don't know how you fix it. Right now, none of us deserve to be wearing the jersey. We need to figure it out and we need to figure it out fast or this is going to spiral out of control."

The team struggled with an injury-riddled roster last season, seeing an MLS-first of all three Designated Players out on the sidelines. Though injuries continue to plague the squad, several key figures are back on the field and should be making a difference to avoid the 10-game winless streak.

Sporting Kansas City currently sits in last place of the Western Conference table with three points in 10 games.
