PepsiCo Enters Landmark Sponsorship Deal With UEFA Women's Football

Pepsi, Lay’s and Gatorade will become official sponsors of UEFA women’s football for at least the next five years following a landmark multi-year partnership with parent company PepsiCo.
PepsiCo is already an existing multi-year partner of the men’s Champions League and the new deal will sit alongside that commitment, with the global brand to support women’s football at all levels through to the summer of 2025.
That includes being a main partner of the UEFA Women’s Champions League and UEFA Women’s EURO, as well as Under-19 and Under-17 tournaments, the Women’s Futsal EURO and UEFA’s Together #WePlayStrong initiative, encouraging women and girls to play football.
It is a ‘proud’ moment for PepsiCo, who are keen to help ‘accelerate’ the growth and reach of what describe as an already ‘vibrant’ women’s game.
“Over the last five years, PepsiCo has been an innovative and influential partner of the UEFA Champions League and we are looking to draw on this energy and experience in order to take the women’s game to new heights,” said Guy-Laurent Epstein, marketing director of UEFA Events SA.
Barcelona Femeni and Netherlands player Lieke Martens said, “Having a major sponsor like PepsiCo sign on to UEFA Women’s football is the influence and recognition women’s football and its athletes and fans need and deserve.
“I’ve loved partnering with PepsiCo and their iconic brands like Lay’s and look forward to how they’ll spotlight women’s football – because this is not just a version of the men’s game; it’s a league that’s all its own.”
The 2019/20 UEFA Women’s Champions League is currently being played out as a mini-tournament in northern Spain. Wolfsburg were the first team to book their place in Sunday’s final after outfoxing a wasteful Barcelona in the first semi-final. Holders and record winners Lyon face domestic rivals Paris Saint-Germain in the second semi-final on Wednesday evening.
