Pep Guardiola celebrated his 400th game in charge of Manchester City in some style as he overcame managerial foe Thomas Tuchel in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Guardiola oversaw an exemplary City performance against Bayern, with their first-leg display manifesting the very best of the Sky Blues. The aggregate victory puts the Citizens in a great position to win their maiden European crown under the Spaniard; the only major title that has eluded Guardiola since he took the reins in 2016.

Pep's magic, with the help of just a little bit of cash, has helped evolve City into nothing short of a domestic juggernaut. His City teams are regarded among the very best we've ever seen on English shores, and they've pretty much monopolised the Premier League following their 2016/17 campaign of transition.

Here's what Guardiola's record at the Etihad looks like after 400 games in charge.

The above table depicts City's domestic dominance with Guardiola at the helm. The Spaniard has managed 322 games in the Premier League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup, winning 245 of them. That's a staggering win percentage of 75.2%.

Guardiola has won over 64% of his Champions League fixtures at City, but they've reached the final just once under his tutelage. His sides typically dominate in the group stage before coming unstuck against inferior opposition in the knockout rounds. They failed to reach the semi-finals in his first four seasons in charge.

What trophies has Pep Guardiola won at Man City?

City's inability to get over the line in Europe is the only blemish on Guardiola's remarkable record at the Etihad. Their success under the former Barcelona and Bayern boss has seen the club garner plenty of silverware in recent years.

The Citizens are four-time Premier League winners under Guardiola, and they could make it a fifth title in 2022/23. They also won the Carabao Cup in four straight years between 2018 and 2022. Curiously, though, City have won the FA Cup just once (2018/19) and have been knocked out in the semi-finals in four straight years.

Usually, Guardiola has more pressing priorities by the time the semis of that competition roll around.

What records has Pep Guardiola broken at Man City?

Guardiola's imperious stint means he's broken his fair share of managerial records a long the way.

Guardiola was the quickest manager in Premier League history to 150 wins, which he achieved in just 204 matches. City also racked up 500 goals under the Spaniard's tutelage in record time, doing so in 207 matches at a rate of 2.4 goals a game! Pep also set the bar in terms of being the quickest manager to oversee 200 goals (81 games), 300 goals (120 games) and 400 (162 games).

In 2021, City racked up an extortionate 36 top-flight victories in a calendar year which eclipsed the record set by Bob Paisley's Liverpool (33) in 1982. In September of that year, City's 1-0 win over Chelsea meant Guardiola (221st win) had become the most winningest manager in the club's history.

During Pep's second season at the helm (2017/18), City became the first team in Premier League history to notch 100 points, while their goal tally of 106 is also the highest in the competition's history. That City side won the league by the biggest points margin (19) as well.

The Spaniard also leads the way in four notable categories among managers who have managed 50+ games in the Premier League:

  • Best points-per-game record - 2.35
  • Highest winning percentage - 74
  • Most goals per game - 2.45
  • Fewest goals conceded per game - 0.80
