Paul Pogba has revealed the two toughest players that he's come up against in his career, with one selection particularly surprising.
The French World Cup winner has come up against a host of stellar names in his 11-year career, taking on football's best in his time with Manchester United and Juventus.
And when asked by FootballJoe who the toughest opponent he's faced is, Pogba name-checked France teammate N'Golo Kante, but he also came out with a slightly left-field pick too.
"Emre Can, Emre Can, yeah. We obviously have N’Golo and everything, but one day I remember I had a big battle with Emre Can," Pogba said.
"But with Kante, you pass him and you think there’s another N’Golo because he comes back so fast."
Can will have faced Pogba's Man Utd during his time with Liverpool, and the encounter that the Frenchman is likely referring to is a 1-1 draw midway through the 2016/17 season in which he struggled to break through the Reds' manic press.
Germany international Can spent four seasons at Liverpool after signing from Bayer Leverkusen and departed in 2018 for Juventus on a free transfer. But he would only last a year-and-a-half in Turin before returning to Germany with Borussia Dortmund.
Can's career has stagnated in recent seasons due to injury problems, while he has also reinvented himself as a centre-back following his return to the Bundesliga.
