Paris Saint-Germain are keeping tabs on Jan Oblak and could even discuss a transfer in January, according to a report.

Oblak was subject to interest from Chelsea in the summer as the Blues went in search of a new number one goalkeeper, but a move never materialised and they opted to sign the far more affordable Edouard Mendy.

The Daily Mail claim that Oblak has now decided he would like a new challenge and that PSG are monitoring the situation as they continue 'constantly evaluating' their squad in a bid to bring European success to the club.

Atletico are reluctant to sell in January and have a £109m release clause in Oblak's contract, however, which would make a deal even more difficult to strike during the winter transfer window.

Les Parisiens are also hinging on the future of Kylian Mbappe and waiting to see if he will decide to leave the club, in their pursuit of other big name players.

And with Atletico sitting at the top of La Liga heading into the second half of the season, it is shaping up to be their best chance at winning the Spanish top flight since they were last crowned champions in 2013/14, making a January transfer incredibly unlikely.

The report does state, though, that Atleti would be open for discussions ahead of a summer transfer, with the ongoing pandemic continuing to prove financially straining on clubs. PSG could therefore be in for a rather busy summer 2021 if reports are to be believed, with them also keeping tabs on Lionel Messi as his Barcelona future remains uncertain.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Oblak and his desire to win silverware, he still has the chance to end the season with Atletico and rack up an impressive trophy haul. Not only are they flying high domestically, but they also have a Champions League round of 16 clash with Chelsea on the horizon in 2021.
