Paris Saint-Germain progressed to the Champions League semi finals on Tuesday night on away goals, despite losing 1-0 to Bayern Munich courtesy of an Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting strike.

In a captivating first half, Neymar hit the crossbar and the post in quick succession just before the break. Bayern made the Brazilian pay for his wastefulness when Choupo-Moting opened the scoring from close range soon after.

After the break things calmed down, although Neymar came within centimeters of sliding Angel Di Maria's cross home early on. Kylian Mbappe then had a goal ruled out for offside with ten minutes left to play.

In the closing stages Bayern turned the screw but despite some near misses, PSG managed to narrowly hold out for victory. They will now face either Manchester City or Borussia Dortmund in the semi finals.

Here are your player ratings for both sides from Paris...

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Keylor Navas (GK) - 7/10 - Little he could do about the goal. Made a couple of great saves.

Colin Dagba (RB) - 7/10 -
Came out on top in his battle against Kingsley Coman. Not a lot to report on going forward.

Danilo Pereira (CB) - 7/10 -
Looked comfortable in his secondary position for the most part.

Presnel Kimpembe (CB) - 7/10 -
His positioning was close to perfect throughout, as evidenced by his seven clearances.

Abdou Diallo (LB) - 5/10 -
Caused quite a few problems by Sane before being forced off with a pulled hamstring just before the hour mark.

2. Midfielders

Neymar

Idrissa Gueye (CM) - 7/10 - A textbook ball winning midfielder's display. He completed a team high six tackles and also used the ball well in possession.

Leandro Paredes (CM) - 6/10 -
Showed stunning tight control in close- quarters. Knitted PSG's progressions together.

Neymar (AM) - 7/10 -
A mixed display. At times he was completely unplayable, as evidence by the seven fouls Bayern committed, but his finishing let him down.

3. Forwards

Kylian Mbappe

Angel Di Maria (RW) - 7/10 - So, so, so close to setting up Neymar in scintillating fashion just after the break. Was beautiful to watch throughout, showing off with some great flicks and tricks.

Kylian Mbappe (ST) - 6/10 -
A constant threat against Bayern's ambitiously high line in the first half and so nearly assisted Neymar.

Julian Draxler (LW) - 6/10 -
The quietest of his team's attackers. Rarely gave the ball away but did not look all that dangerous.

4. Substitutes

Mitchel Bakker - 6/10 - Solid after coming on. His inexperience did not show.

Moise Kean - 5/10 - Had a few chances to counter but could not convert.

Ander Herrera - N/A

Jerome Boateng, Neymar

Manuel Neuer (GK) - 7/10 - Made several important saves to keep his side in it. Swept up some long balls as well.

Benjamin Pavard (RB) - 7/10 -
Steady if unsensational. Did not give Draxler a sniff in behind.

Jerome Boateng (CB) - 8/10 -
Most identified him as a weak link before kick off. Although his lack of pace was sometimes exposed, he really wasn't that bad. Finished with five tackles and close to perfect long pass accuracy.

Lucas Hernandez (CB) - 8/10 -
He hit some great crossfield balls from deep. Marshalled PSG's attackers when they broke forward late on.

Alphonso Davies (LB) - 6/10 -
Drove his team forward with some surging runs but Di Maria caused him some problems. Taken off as Bayern reshaped with 20 minutes to go.

6. Midfielders

Thomas Mueller, Presnel Kimpembe
Muller was always dangerous / Matthias Hangst/Getty Images

David Alaba (CM) - 6/10 - Failed to convert a good chance in the first half, but luckily Choupo-Moting was there for the rebound. His delivery could have been better.

Joshua Kimmich (CM) - 7/10 -
Saw a lot of the ball and was always ambitious in possession. Made Die Roten tick all evening.

Thomas Muller (AM) - 7/10 -
Very impressive. His positioning made him a nightmare to deal with and he also laid on a few great chances for his teammates.

7. Forwards

Leroy Sane (RW) - 7/10 - Missed two presentable chances in the first half but he was always trying to make things happen.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (ST) - 7/10 -
Rose high to open the scoring. Also held up the ball well. Substituting him seemed harsh.

Kingsley Coman (LW) - 6/10 -
Tried to dribbled forward whenever he got the ball. Not quite as dangerous as Sane but had his moments.

8. Substitutes

Jamal Musiala - 5/10 - Could not get control of the ball for his one big chance.

Javi Martinez - N/A
