Orlando City goalkeeper Mason Stajduhar signs contract extension

Orlando City goalkeeper Mason Stajduhar has agreed a contract extension that will keep him at the club through 2025 season with an option for 2026.

The 24-year-old joined the Lions in 2015 as the club's fourth homegrown player having previously represented Orlando's academy.

Since then, Stajduhar has logged 10 appearances across all competitions, operating as Pedro Gallese's deputy. Four of those outings have come in the current season - one in MLS and three in the US Open Cup. Stajduhar has conceded four goals in 2022 and is yet to keep a clean sheet, but the Lions are unbeaten with him between the sticks.

“Mason is someone who has always given his very best day in and day out and we’re incredibly excited to get him signed to this new deal,” Orlando City executive vice president of soccer operations and general manager Luiz Muzzi said in a club press release.

"His talent, unwavering dedication, and commitment to improving every day is something that we absolutely love and it’s just one of the many reasons that we wanted to keep Mason in Orlando for the foreseeable future.”

Stajduhar's new deal will come into effect ahead of the 2023 campaign.

Orlando City are fifth in the Eastern Conference following a 3-1 defeat at home to FC Dallas in their previous match. Next up for Oscar Pareja's men is a trip to 2021 Supporters' Shield winners the New England Revolution following the international break.
