Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the players he would hypothetically sign when asked what Manchester United legends he would add to his squad in a recent Q&A.

Current Juventus star Ronaldo has long been loosely linked with a return to Old Trafford, though his future is more up in the air now than ever with the Serie A giants going through a period of crisis having exited the Champions League. They are also way behind in Italy's title race.

While any suggestion of a return to United is still extremely premature at this stage, Solskjaer - knowingly or otherwise - has fanned the flames a tad by picking Ronaldo alongside Ireland legend Roy Keane as one of two players he would sign for his current Red Devils side.

He said, as quoted by United's website: "There’s a few players I’ve played with that I’d love to have in my team, of course.

"I’d love the player Roy Keane, I’m not sure if I could manage him though. I’d sign him every day of the week, Roy was so influential but then again, I played with Cristiano [Ronaldo] and he’s been the best player in the world alongside Messi for the past 10-15 years now, so Cristiano. You’d take him in your team, for sure.”

Ronaldo has recently been linked with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain as well as a return to former club Real Madrid. Agent Jorge Mendes is reported to have 'held talks' with Los Blancos, while he is also thought to have a great relationship with PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

United have put their trust in younger attacking players in recent years, with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood all tasked with the goalscoring burden at various stages. Midfielder and Portugal star Bruno Fernandes is their top scorer so far this season with 23 goals.
