NYCFC have signed homegrown midfielder Justin Haak to a new three-year contract, the club announced Wednesday.

Haak's new deal keeps him at the club through the 2025 MLS season with NYCFC holding an option on 2026. The 21-year-old was out of contract following the conclusion of the 2022 season, but Haak has impressed enough to stick around and continue his development with the 2021 MLS Cup champions.

"I call New York home and for me to be able to represent this city is truly an honor," Haak said in an official statement.

"It’s always been a goal of mine to continue my development here with the club that has given me everything. I want to thank Dave [Lee, NYCFC sporting director] and everyone for believing in me. I am proud to continue the rich heritage we are creating here."

Haak - a United States Under-20 international - has made 27 senior appearances for NYCFC since making his senior debut in 2019, including playing in the MLS Cup Playoffs and Concacaf Champions League.

The Cityzens begin their 2023 MLS campaign away to Nashville SC on February 25.
