Nuno Espirito Santo has fought off competition from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Steve Bruce and Frank Lampard to claim the Premier League Manager of the Month award for June.

Chasing a Champions League place this season, Wolves' impressive form since the top flight football resumed saw them go unbeaten in the month of June, winning four of their five matches and keeping three clean sheets.

Those included away wins over rivals Aston Villa and at West Ham, while they also saw off Bournemouth at Molineux, with confirmation of his award for that impressive run coming on Friday.

Santo successfully guided Wolves into the Premier League last season, where they secured a return to the top flight after a six-year absence. An incredible seventh place finish followed and this season it's set to be another fruitful campaign with the club currently sitting in sixth spot.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 temporarily halting football, the award for June includes fixtures played in March, before the league was postponed.

During that month, Santo guided Wolves to an impressive 3-2 away win over Tottenham. Twice falling behind to Jose Mourinho's side, the club secured a memorable win when Raul Jimenez fired home the winner 17 minutes from time.

That was followed up with a 0-0 stalemate against Brighton, the only match of their five-game run where Wolves failed to find the back of the net. Since June, however, results haven't quite gone Wolves' way, falling to defeat in both their matches since.

A rejuvenated Arsenal left the west Midlands with a 2-0 victory, before an injury-time goal from John Egan handed Sheffield United a slender win in their most recent outing. The results may have dented their Champions League hopes, but European football is still firmly within their grasp.
