Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has been named Premier League Manager of the Month for October after his team took 10 points from a possible 12 to rise up the table.

It is the third successive season in which Nuno has scooped a managerial gong, having previously taken home the monthly accolade in September 2018 and June 2020.

Nuno is the third different Portuguese coach to win Manager of the Month in the Premier League after Jose Mourinho and Andre Villas-Boas, who have won five between them. To date, he remains the only Wolves boss to be recognised in this way.

The 46-year-old’s Wolves team were unbeaten in October, picking up wins against Fulham, Leeds and Crystal Palace without conceding a goal, while also drawing 1-1 with Newcastle.

Wolves started the month of October in 16th place in the Premier League table and were fifth by the close of play on 1 November, just three points off top spot.

“We became more solid and more organised,” Nuno said to PremierLeague.com.

"We expect things to improve and it's still an ongoing process of the team. We've been able to, during the month of October, bounce back from our performance the previous month, but all the matches were very, very difficult.

“It was not such a perfect month but it was a very good month in terms of performances.”

Wolves were beaten by league leaders Leicester in their final game before the November international break and will be looking to kick on again when they host high-flying Southampton at Molineux later this month when domestic football resumes.

The tough games will then keep coming for Nuno and his players for the rest of November and into December, with upcoming fixtures against Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Chelsea.
