Liverpool cruised into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a comfortable 3-0 win over Norwich at Carrow Road.

The Reds were quick out of the blocks in Norfolk, opening the scoring after just four minutes through Takumi Minamino's poacher's finish. They had to wait another 45 minutes for their second goal but it was duly delivered by Belgian striker Divock Origi, who nodded home from close range after smart work down the left by Kostas Tsimikas.

Norwich rarely carried a threat, though Christos Tzolis did see a tame first-half penalty saved by Caoimhin Kelleher, and the game was finished off by Minamino ten minutes from time; the Japanese midfielder punishing more slack defending from the Canaries to slide under Gunn.

Here's how both sets of players rated...

Norwich player ratings

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Grant Hanley

Angus Gunn (GK) - 5/10 - Was too close to Minamino to react for Liverpool's opener and was left grasping at thin air by Origi's header. Helpless for the third too.

Andrew Omobamidele (CB) - 5/10 - Not a disastrous showing but a lack of experience at this level was evident.

Grant Hanley (CB) - 5/10 - Should have taken charge for the corner that led to Liverpool's goal, and, well, didn't, while he was a mere spectator for Origi's goal.

Ben Gibson (CB) - 5/10 - Always on the back foot as Liverpool looked to run at Norwich's backline.

2. Wing-backs & midfielders

Bali Mumba (RWB) - 5/10 - A willing trier but there wasn't an awful lot of quality output. Replaced by Rashica.

Lukas Rupp (CM) - 5/10 - Outclassed by Liverpool's trio of midfielders and needed to bring more physicality.

Billy Gilmour (CM) - 5/10 - Let Minamino go from the corner for reasons unknown. Fairly quiet but did show his ability to ping the ball long on occasion.

Pierre Lees-Melou (CM) - 6/10 - Battled well in the heart of midfield and got forward whenever possible. The best Norwich had to offer but was booked for a poor tackle on Jones.

Dimitris Giannoulis (LWB) - 5/10 - Did well to win Norwich's penalty, using his body smartly. Carelessly gave away possession for Liverpool's third.

3. Forwards

Christos Tzolis (ST) - 4/10 - Shocking penalty miss. Awful technique, no power and straight down the middle. Hooked.

Adam Idah (ST) - 6/10 - Intelligent with his movement but wasn't able to muster a really clear-cut opportunity. Starved of service and had to get himself into the game.

4. Substitutes

Teemu Pukki (ST) - 5/10 - Unable to turn the tide of the game as Liverpool cruised to victory.

Milot Rashica (RWB) - 5/10 - Asked to play at wing-back which is definitely not his strong suit. Tracked back but was out of position at times.

5. Goalkeeper & defenders

Caoimhin Kelleher (GK) - 8/10 - Read the game well and played the role of sweeper keeper handily. Made a couple of smart stops and, most importantly, kept out Tzolis' tame penalty.

Conor Bradley (RB) - 6/10 - Conceded the penalty with a fairly naive challenge and looked a little flustered for a short period. Settled down and did okay.

Ibrahima Konate (CB) - 6/10 - Guilty of ball-watching at times, a trait you can conceivably liken to a number of defenders from the Bundesliga. Needed to support Bradley more and was far too distant from Gomez on occasion.

Joe Gomez (CB) - 6/10 - Job done in terms of Liverpool keeping a clean sheet but Gomez has work to do communicating with Konate.

Kostas Tsimikas (LB) - 7/10 - Lovely little dinked cross for Origi to put the game out of sight. A classy player who would shine for most Premier League sides.

6. Midfielders

Naby Keita (CM) - 6/10 - 45 minutes in the legs for the Guinean international before he was hooked for bigger and better things.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (CM) - 7/10 - Passing was a bit up and down in the first half and actually faired better after switching to the left. Assisted Minamino's third.

Curtis Jones (CM) - 7/10 - Maturing with every performance, Jones showed great energy and could be heard audibly guiding Bradley and Gordon.

7. Forwards

Kaide Gordon (RW) - 7/10 - Unquestionably is going to be a superstar player. Drops the shoulder and cuts inside with such ease, though he does appear to rely solely on his left foot.

Divock Origi (ST) - 8/10 - Holds the ball up so well and buried his header. A decent outing and another glimpse of what he can do when given the opportunity.

Takumi Minamino (LW) - 8/10 - Took his goals smartly, spinning on the half-turn to fire through Angus Gunn's legs early on, before dancing his way through Norwich's defence to slide in Liverpool's third.

8. Substitutes

Tyler Morton

Tyler Morton (CM) - 7/10 - A straightforward debut for Morton but impressive nevertheless. Rarely gave the ball away and had a confidence about his play.

Andrew Robertson (LB) - 6/10 - Subbed on with 25 minutes to go in order to build up his match fitness. Didn't have much to do defensively but did carelessly give the ball away to present Rupp with an opportunity.

Jordan Henderson (CM) - N/A
